so carnafex can, add plus one to hit and an extra attack on the charge, a native minus one to be shot at(with wargear), that doesn't stack with venoms but maybe with hive fleet?
a -2 to hit carnafex unit, or couple, with extra to hit and extra attacks on the charge and the 6+ for mortal wounds to units near by could do a lot of damage with old one eye near by.
Edit: never mind i thought there was a -1 to hit hive fleet.

the negatives to hit don't stack - best you can do is a -1 to hit (all the abilities, including malanthropes are all named the same - "shrouding spores" and it specifically says it doesn't stack)
but yes, I WILL definitely be running a carnifex horde up the field with old one eye... this is going to happen.
In fact I just might buy even more carnifex just because this is awesome to me

Even if it doesn't stack, that -1 still is very valuable. Maintaining bubbles can be problematic depending on the terrain and the size of armies so it gives the unit the choice of ranging further away as needed.

Ya it's still really good. I had thought there was a hive feet -1 to hit that could stack. That's why I put the edit in after I checked.
But still -1 to hit and either always cover or 6+ fnp on a tonne of fexes. Scary

I already know I'm running jormungandr because otherwise cover is practically non-existant for monsters (needs to be in cover AND 50% obscured - when is that EVER going to happen with a melee fex???)
depending on how the points work out my standard list will be something along the lines of:
Old one eye and fexes with shrouding spores Swarmlord, stealers, trygon combo Flyrants, malanthropes
I also plan on running a "brain bug" style list based around Neurothropes and Zoanthropes (because it would look awesome on the table!) - but I'm not sure what else to run with it because the maleceptor still looks like hot garbage this codex as well. I might combo with a shooty core - T-fexes, hive guard, malanthropes (only the fexes get shrouding spores) and maybe some devourer overload.
Basically I just can't wait until this codex... it's shaping up to be the best one since 4th edition (which was my favourite Nid book of all time) and the first solid codex in ten years. Nids are my first 40k army and still my favourite!

I am really liking the thought and individual flavor going into each of the codices. Every army that’s got a codex thus far feels and plays very different; something in my mind that is exactly how it should be!

I don't think I have enough big bugs for an MC list, but enough to support a "where the hell will they pop up" list. Should still have enough genestealers to make life miserable for many armies.

interesting that he says the points costs of things really didn't change a whole lot. Over on Tyranid Hive for example, they've said that the Haruspex (which no one ever took because he was so expensive) dropped 50 points... (so MIGHT be worth taking... well still probably not) and alot of other units got a 5-10 point drop... these little changes across 10 units can add up

Ya. It is weird since he has stated before he won't put upgrades on his genestealers in the past because it gets more guys. So he knows the little things add up.
But it's a nice review. I didn't realise the old one eye went down to 9 wounds. That's going to be amazing with fexes now.

yes a spearhead with OOE and carnifex are going to be a staple of many of my lists.
I'm just excited that I can have many different nid lists that all seem (at least on paper) to be usuable, and even competitive!
it's just been so long (10 years) since they've had a competitive codex.

Ya. With hive fleets and upgrades you do a shooty army. Or a close combat or psykic.
It looks super rounded and I wish I had nids lol.
