Magnus should really stay as-is in my opinion; he's less survivable than Mortarion by far and can't be shielded like Bobby G.
Yes his casting I'd on point but he's got no ranged weapon, his melee weapon only has one profile and with the debuff to the invulnerable re-rolls I think he should sit as is points wise.

If I'm honest the biggest problem I've had with Mags has been then 3++, reroll 1's. Yeah, his Smite can be nasty, and he can wreck other big targets in combat, but he's been nowhere near the trouble Morty has, or Bobby G buffing a whole gunline.
Not saying he's *bad* at all, he's 400+ points and worth it, but I don't think he really needs to cost more.

We shall see. I mean CC he can land 7 WS +2 S16 D3 AP-3 attacks...so he fights like some of the best dreads with 16W T7 3++( even with re-roll). Then he has his well above average casting. The big one for me is his well above average mobility is what really sets him apart. Most super deadly things move 12" Magnus can just turbo around the board with a little warp time help and can almost solo a knight a turn. I dont think he will eat a big point bump but i would be surprised if he stayed 415.

I'm anticipating a 20 point or so hike for Magnus... and a few other point drops here and there for regular sons
so you'll likely be fielding more or less what numbers you did with the index in a list... that's what most codex's have done thus far.

I'm just so so hopeful that Rubrics and Scarab Occult will be worth taking in reasonable numbers. The new models are so fantastic.

I watched close to the end - Sons got beat up, but they were played really well. Got the Custodes to bunch up to assault a firebase and then used a psychic power to teleport the DP and some Rubrics across the board to take an empty objective, ran Ahriman towards another. Custodes had well more firepower left, but that psychic/disc based mobility let them play the objective game super well.

some info following the battle report: via High Times on the Eastern Fringe hightimesontheeasternfringe.wordpress.com/2018/01/18/first-glance-at-codex-thousand-sons/The Warhammer Community Team is throwing down a preview game between Adeptus Custodes and Thousand Sons. Yes, they give a sneak peak of the new Codex for the Thousand Sons. So far warhammer community has confirmed that no new models will be released just a porting over of the tzaangors range to 40k as well as a tzeentch monster beast. Aspiring sorceror a can take psychic powers other than smite •Reroll 1s on the invulnerable saves is out. I didn’t catch what new aura we got. •Legion Trait sounded like +6″ spell range (first cast per model). •Dark Matter Crystal (a relic) allows you to remove a unit close to the bearer from the board and redeploy the unit via deep strike. •Dark Hereticus is still in and there are plenty of more spells. •Aspiring Sorcerers can take other spells (unsure if you can take it on top of Smite or if you drop Smite). •Glamour of Tzeentch spell gives one of your unit -1 to hit protection. •Doombolt spell does some damage and reduces target units move. •Temporal Manipulation is another spell but I have no idea of what it does. •Tzaangor Shaman is an elite choice and not HQ. The Shaman can reroll a Psychic test (probably the Elixir from AoS). •Tzaangor Enlightened can take bows and shoot magical arrows that auto-wound on to hit rolls of 6+. Assault 1d3 shots. •Lord of Forbidden Lore Warlord Trait give an additional spell. •There is a stratagem that allows a unit to set up in the webway or something like that. Deep strike. Works on Tzaangors at least. •Veterans of the Long War is still in! •Mutalith Vortex Beast buffs nearby units. Like reroll charge rolls if you’re in the 6″ aura.

Was T.son running magnus? Yep. Not sure what he did early, when I turned it on he killed Trajan Valoris and then died to return attacks from Custodian Wardens.
