A Da'lyth Stormsurge might be good, but it would give up 36" range smart missiles and a 16" super pulse blastcannon. Then again, a 2+ 4++ would be pretty nifty.
*Edit* though I'm not sure how nifty... most of the stuff shooting a SS is -2 or more anyways, so the 2+ wouldn't matter.

yup... they'll be using the invul anyways... unless someone is shooting heavy bolters at them I guess
it just seems the other Septs are going to be more useful no matter what type of unit you bring.

Overall I'm happy that tau is taking a big step in the right direction but sad that Crisis who were seeing very little table time were left untouched, even 7 pt drop to get a 35pt weaponless suit would help a lot to make things like 2x plasma suits a thing again. Also Tau plasma...what happened there, that was a missed chance to make it a low strength infantry killing weapon (s6 AP-3 2d) vs imperial plasma which would be a higher but dangerous anti armour weapon ( s8 AP -4 2d)

One thing I noticed. Stimulant injector is now a strat not a piece of wargear.
Which brings me to a weird question. In other codexies if a piece of wargear was taken away since the index you could still take it. But In this case it's not a weapons or even Some thing that can be modeled. So can you take it from the index?

I'm sure Stimulant Injectors will be clarified in the 2 week FAQ. I wouldn't expect to be able to take them.
The Strategems are pretty sweet, except for the fact that the Dal'yth got a special "Move after Shooting" when their Sept Trait is "don't move to get cover"... And the stratagem specifically says moving as if in the movement phase so it DEFINITELY breaks the sept trait...
Some pretty nice Strats for Suits, through. The Neruoweb System Jammer is pretty awesome for a frontline commander and Multi-Spectrum Sensor Suite is a great 1CP strategem.
I'm seeing a pretty awesome Farsight Enclave list forming in my head with Suits & Breachers that would definitely be the exact opposite of a gunline tau army... using Multiple Battalions with Commanders & FireWarriors for big CP.

Alright, my thoughts so far. First, the bad -No rearm stratagem for Skyrays. Fire off the missiles, then enjoy your 100pt paperweight. -No amulet of Arthas Moloch, so no psychic defence at all. -Removal of the one reliable source of mortal wounds in the army (seekers changed to hunter killer missiles that need help to fire accurately) Destroyers missiles on the SS still work, but youch. -Kroot still poop -Shaper, why you no HQ? -TONS of stratagems/equipment for commanders.... who are now 1 per detachment lol -Multi-tracker, which was already hardly used at 2 points, now 10pts!? And it only works on units with 5 or more models... so never taking that. -ATS now mega expensive. Sad. -No change to the hardly used Crisis suit. -No change to the severely over costed Missile pod -Tau plasma, not in a good spot. -No more Stimulant injector wargear, now a wonky stratagem. -20 pts more on space pope -Price bumps to flying bin lids (drones) The Good +Firewarrior price drop +Hammerhead price drop +Riptide improvements + price drop +Bork Bork +Ghostkeel improvements +Ghostkeel shield gen. 8pts from 40! Rejoice! +Ion weapons pretty much all got better +Deep striking drones +Smattering of other point drops Things that could still come +Double tap hammerhead main gun if it moves under half (come on, this one is a no brainer) +Better Invocations of the Elements for Ethereals (might explain the price increase) Overall, I think things are ok. This is not the Eldar, Guard or Chaos dex many Tau players were hoping for, but most of our stuff is slightly better. I think GW did miss out on some really cool opportunities to make some meaningful and exciting changes though.

it's totally in what you just posted:
"(NOTE) THAT IF THE WARGEAR HAS RULES IN THE CODEX, THESE REPLACE THE INDEX RULES"
Stimulant injector has new rules in the codex. You have to use those.

Ya it will need to be faqed because other wise riptides will have sim injector for fnp on the nova mortal wound and fnp from an ethereal.

That's true. It has a new rule it's just not wargear anymore. That makes sense.

Strictly speaking, there is no longer a Wargear option for stimulant injectors. It is a stratagem. Again, I assume this will be FAQ'd (hopefully) as most T'au groups seem to share the consensus that you can still use the wargear version of the stims. Until they rule in either way though, I'm fine not using them as an option. There are better support systems to be had.

I like this. I also like that they fixed the cold star battle suit. That is going to go well in my army.
