Oh yah, coldstar is going to be a "star" a 40" moving quad fusion character that can hand out a -1 debuff with a stratagem?
that's downright terrifying.

And in Vior'la, no penalty to his ballistic skill while scooting around the sky.

Someone HAS to make their Coldstar quad fusion commander a fire warrior with a jump pack on a tail of flames with 4 melta bombs trailing from ropes in his hands.
Thus must happen. I'll even dig to donate the jump pack and melta bombs if need be.

"You know what needs buffing in the T'au army? The quadfusion commander. He needs to be able to advance 40 inches and fire at full BS.
"You know what needs nerfing? The multi-tracker." - Games Workshop 2018, apparently

Ya there were some weird choices moving forward like that. like fly 40" land 6.5" from the enemy then deep strike all the drone support you need 9.1" away from enemy and 2.6" from your commander and get some.
Multi trackers, Crisis and kroot best make them irrelievent.
However im very impressed with the beefiness of 175 pts get you a ghost keel with ion, 2x burst cannon, sheild and ATS with 2 drones. thats a snazzy unit for a CC dreads price.

That ghostkeel setup seems pretty awesome for 175 points I think there's going to be some really cool combos unlocked with this dex once people get their hands on it and start playtesting options. I was honestly surprised in a lot of cases in the armies I have that have gotten a codex, that overall changes and combos often times made previously completely unchanged units have much more solid performance.

I wonder if the Coldstars will be a 0-1 thing per army? Because if you can start dropping 3 of them with quad-fusion on the table at once it'll get ugly quick if you can't cover the board enough to keep them from getting at any larger target.

There has been no indication for that in any leak. I suppose they figure the 1 per detachment is enough.
Also, I'm proposing the coldstar with four fusion be called the "Coldfusion"

I'm most of the way through SS82s indepth review (listening while I paint this morning). www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScCYx1-GOZg&t=4651s (WARNING: It's over 3 hours) Highlights/LowLights so far: Systems points changes are significant, many of the good ones went up, many poor ones went down. Multi-Tracker took a HUGE nerf. Early Warning Override likely still a near-auto-take on something like a Riptide, through it suffers from the same -1 to hit as Auspex Scan. Suit weaponry largely unchanged. Fusion is probably still the weapon of choice, through options other than missile pods all look viable. Missile Pods seem at least somewhat overpriced still, the classic Plasma + Missile Pod loadout seems lackluster compared to double Burst Cannon or double Fusion. Riptides obviously stupid-good. Expect to see one in every list. Both HBC & Ion are viable. Firesight Marksman are particularly good source of markerlights via the Uplinked Markerlight Strategem. Three of them in a Vanguard Detachment + An HQ choice not only nets you an extra CP, but 3 character marker lights on BS3+ and access to another Commander. It's also possible via Firesights + Sniper Drones to fill out a brigade quite cheaply. Expect a list with lots of these to have LOADS of CP to burn. Hiding a single Drone Controller amoung a Crisis Suit unit could be a great way to bring in more Drones for protection. Breachers & Fire Warriors + Ethreals and Fireblades stacking their buffs are going to be very strong. Even Reece was recommending trying this combo out. Infantry Tau is definitely a possibility. Seeker Missiles are pretty much an auto-take on anything that can take them. Skyray is stupid deadly. Even after it's payload is gone smart missiles + markerlights are still great support. Especially deadly to units with Fly, 2s to hit in most cases. Hammerheads and Longstrike are definitely going to be taking a backseat. Longstrike is ok, but Broadside Railguns are much cheaper and get twice as many shots but still deal D6 damage. Expect to see less Hammerheads for sure. Devilfish come down in points and are a decent source of Seeker Missiles, with the buffs to infantry I would expect Devilfish + Breachers to be a common unit if you are looking for something to go take an objective in midfield. Sun Shark Bomber is greatly improved. It now carries 4 Ion Rifles that can be overcharged for up to 4D3 Str 8 Plasma shots a turn. The bomb is also every time it moves over an enemy unit, rather than once-per-game. seems decent imo.
