Been a little while since I checked this thread. If the tournament is anything like the exchanges going on here, it should be a lot of fun because reading this certainly was!

the forgeworld riptides are all riptide variants. You get one riptide. Ah, my caution paid off! See, I can be taught!

Been a little while since I checked this thread. If the tournament is anything like the exchanges going on here, it should be a lot of fun because reading this certainly was! Well many of our "just for fun" tournies like crusade and secret santa are lower point levels, and everyone can bring mainly what they want with the exception of LOW's
This tourney opens up the LOW slot but throws another wrench in the works with the Highlander format. So challenges list building and hopefully we'll see a lot of units that we don't normally get to see due to the restrictions.
I know it makes some armies have a difficult time if they only have one troop choice (sisters/custodes) so I'm still open to discussion surrounding this (unlimited troops kinda defeats the purpose, but was thinking you are allowed to make a battalion - so if you have two troop choices you can replicate once... if you have one, you can replicate twice) So might be able to open up a few CP options for someone who is playing a restricted codex.
given Crusade is full with a waiting list, I really honestly would sign up to Highlander early... people waited with crusade and it was absolutely full a month out!
I believe that due to the successful tournies we've had with respect to numbers, we can count on this extra summer slot for a one day tourney - probably have it be different every year so we can still keep people's favourites and have an option to continually try fresh new ideas as well.

ooo, if you do the Custodes change, this might be the first tournament I don't bring T'au. I know some people might appreciate that lol

I agree with this. I think it makes sense that everyone should be able to field at least one battalion. CP's are too much a part of the game to not give someone the opportunity to have at least one +5.

Not sure if this was already covered, but is there a ruling in special characters who also share a unit type? Would a character like an eldar phoenix lord just count as them self, or would they also count for the squad if their particular aspect warrior type?

Would a Space Marine Captain count as the same as a Tactical Squad? Certainly not. But Eldrad would count as a Farseer because he's spiritually the same unit, just with some bonuses for being a bossmandude

If you have a special character librarian (tiggy for example) then he would count as your "librarian" choice
Eldrad = farseer
swarmlord = hive tyrant
Vect = ..... oh wait... too soon still?

updated original post.
If you have one troop choice for your ENTIRE army you can duplicate twice to bring a battalion (ie: sisters, custodes)
if you are bringing multiple detachments (a BA and a custodes for example) this would not apply (because you have BA troops you can bring!)
Intent is so that some of the smaller choice armies are still able to be brought.

Just a friendly reminder we're 2 1/2 months out and 25% booked...
crusade filled a month ahead of time, so if you're planning on attending I'd really recommend booking your spot (even to pay offline later is fine) just so you don't miss out.

Would Magnus count as the one sorcerer allowed? Or could sons bring another sorcerer?

magnus isn't a sorcerer... he's a magnus... so tsons could bring him plus a sorcerer of some sort
Ahriman though... he's a sorcerer... likewise exalted is a sorcerer
