Well that seems disgusting.

For the low, low cost of only 405 points! I can't see these not being an auto-include in every Custodes list.

I love how it's PL17 too... it's undercosted on both points and power level...
I would honestly just run it stock and watch it smash people... 2D6 Plasma Flamer? Uh, yes please?
EDIT: I missed that it's T8 with a 4+ Invul too... gross.

Ray, it mounts a 2D6 plasma flamer in each melee arm. charge it for a 4D6 plasma flamer overwatch, lol.

I dunno, 405 pts is getting close to a knight, and 8" range on a 9" move platform isn't great. I think this will shine with either the las-storm or the accelerator culverin.
GW sure does have a thing for D3 damage for custodes though. Damn man, would a Lascannon equivalent kill them at some point?
Its a leviathan in just about every way, with a 6+ FNP.

Ray, it mounts a 2D6 plasma flamer in each melee arm. charge it for a 4D6 plasma flamer overwatch, lol. Charge it from 8.1" away. No flamer overwatch, still an 8" charge. Also, those flamers are 60(!) pts each! 120pts for the pair of pairs.

oh hell, why not go crazy and save TWENTY points to trade one of your flamers for a 6 shot S8 -3 D3 damage gun at 36"
silly forgeworld

Which is why you save 20 points by having the equivalent of a six shot overcharged plasma gun with D3 damage and no chance of overheat.... plus a flamer....lol

I'm gonna magnatize mine, but I think the high volume Las-Storm cannon is what I'll go with most times. Replace both of them, have him sit in the back while all my other little buddies go forward.
That being said, 340pts will almost buy you 4 bikes, which have more wounds, the same saves, much larger movement, 48 bolter shots in rapidfire and great combat capabilities. They also synergise better with shield captains who want to be up in the mix as well.

I dunno, it's got serious potential because it doesn't need babysitting; park it in cover on an objective then have it be a firebase unto itself. It's more survivable than Magnus and it has guns; let your other guys jump forward and get in people's grills while it softens up charges for your guys or cleans up units while they move on to bigger targets.
I'd pick this over bikes in a heartbeat; it just fills that hole of long-range fire support.

True enough, I mean you really don't even need him for his combat potential as good as that is. double las-storm cannon is pretty gross, hitting on 2's wounding most things on 3's for D3 wounds at 48".
bikes are very good at their role. work out the math of one shooting round of this dread vs. them (good luck hiding against a 57" threat range), lets assume no rerolls or other buffs:
20 shots, 17 hits, 11 wounds, 5.5 failed saves, 11 wounds - 3-4 dead bikes depending on how you roll.
The bikes meanwhile, can do absolutely nothing vs. the dread.

I'd pick this over bikes in a heartbeat; it just fills that hole of long-range fire support. It definitely fills a roll in the army that Custodes desperately need. A reliable source of long range, heavy duty shooting. As for more survivable than magnus, thats a bit of a toss up. I would say that maggy is better off once he gets his powers poppin'. A barebones vexilla with the -1 to hit banner next to the Telemon would be nasty though. But then you're spending 140 odd points to get that buff. As for the bikes fighting this dread, that's not exactly a fair comparison. The Dread is purpose built for destroying heavy infantry/cavalry, where the bikes are more horde-clearing/ high value target hunting. And don't discount the bikes hurting stuff in combat! Yah, they wound on 5's against T7 and up, but they re-roll all wounds on the charge! At 4A, S6, d3 damage and ap-3, that'll dent all sorts of stuff! The 20 shot gun is only ap-1, so the bikes would get a 3+ save, so more likely two dead from a round of shooting from the stationary Telemon
