so it's basically a knight with living metal and some pretty gross guns...
hmmmmm

Hmmm, three up armor and a 5+ invul (I think the 'mundane' knight only have that against shooting) though it can't be buffed. With T8 it's actually semi-survivable.
Good news is that it can use the damage control override (use highest profile for a turn) strategem but the bad is the power level of 32. Because the Gauss pylon is PL 24 and costs 550 points so it's very likely that this guy will cost even more.
As for the weapons, the second set with the 2d3 flat six damage is looking very tasty. Particularly since it comes with a rather nasty MEQ vaporizer secondary armament.

No need to guess, the point level is right at the bottom. 625pts, including wargear. Comparable to the big knights, which this is a sized towards.

I feel like a LOT of Cron players will be kitbashing their own version of this thing very soon. You could do something pretty cool with a Triarch Stalker, a Doom Scythe and maybe some bits from the Doomsday Arc.
Seems like it'd do some damage, and be survivable. This with a bunch of fast moving wraiths would be a really hard target priority, some scarabs for late game objective drop and some good dynasty choices would make for a pretty hard hitting list.

Might depend on just how big it is. The Ta'unar is $255 for the body and flippin huge. This guy is 290ish for the body, so I suspect he may be quite large.
As for dynasties, what do people think would be good with this guy? I'm not familiar enough with them to really weigh in.

Plus all its weapons are heavy. Mephrit kinda, Makes its weapons practically ignores cover (-1 to ap). Half distance on 72” is pretty far. Novokh isnt too bad . Re rolling to hit in fight phase with 18 strength 8 , -2 D3 damage is nasty. Nihilakh : really good. Re roll hit rolls of 1 if did not move. But the highlight is the Nihilakh stratagem that if it does not move it adds one to its saveing throws. Making it 2+ 4++ Sautekh: ok. Again not likely to advance with it but if your plan is to move forward into enemy lines and hope you roll a 6 to explode the I’d go with Nephrekh. Using methodical destruction to add 1 to hit in shooting is nice. Especially if you pair it with two Triarch Stalkers. Hitting on 2s rerolling 1s.

I like it. I don’t like spending $400 on a model when I could buy two vaults for less money. Kit bashing is an option. But it’s power level is 32 do we foresee any issues with running it in any Kingston tournaments as I know some ITC tournaments would not allow it. I think there cut off is 30 or 31.

Coming in at 625 pts this feel like a Knight Castellan for Crons, big shooty guy (tho he can melee as well as a gallant)
Not sure if is better than a vault for price point but I give it the edge over a pylon cause its mobile and can function well vs multiple unit types and army builds.
Does seem like a good fire magnet to keep the rest of your force alive, but i mean a lot of the cron super heavies fot that role.

Admittedly this thing will eat a stompa for breakfast and not be full.

yeah but we're not ITC....no PL cap locally
so if someone wants to run it - at least to me - it's just as valid as all those forgeworld knights.

The ITC power level cap hasn't been an "official" thing for about a year now. Smaller ITC tournaments are able to do what they want.

Ok.
For shear shouting power, and unit buffs A pylon is more powerful. For versatility I think this construct is better. I like the 16” move and the pylons aside. Necrons don’t really have much for range and dealing with knights. This does both.
I’d probably run this as Sautekh to move forward and advance and get up close with as Matt mentioned with some wraiths (on the other flank). 3D6” explosion on a 6 makes me smile ear to ear inside.
Further analysis, Math says that this won’t kill a Knight in one turn. At max. 6 shots. Hitting on a 3+ = 4 hits. Wounding on 2+ with a command reroll 4 wounds. Knight has a 4+ meaning 2 unsaves damage 12.
Gauss pylon At max 6 shots . Hitting on 2+ 5 hits. Wounding on 2+ 4 wounds. Knight saves 2 . Damage (D3 + 6) x 2(Macro weapon vs Titanic) min 28 wounds, max 36 wounds. On two failed saves vs titanic Knight.
This construct is clearly designed to deal with other models . Still working on it.

I think this thing is a beast. straight damage 6 is nasty and its pretty good in combat too. Also explodes pretty large so I'd say you'd want it in your opponents face.
