from a Facebook group I'm part of: So I was at GW HQ yesterday and whilst I wasn't allowed(!) to actually look at the codex, I got sooo close! Found out a few bits though (this guy was particularly tight lipped, but others there were more sharing). Here's what I found out - * We'll have a weird "blip" system for deployment, like motion detector marks, where we can choose which is what unit when we reveal them (not necessarily on the first turn). * The map guy allows us to move these markers. * The gun slinger allows us to reroll misses once he's killed someone. * The loud speaker guy stops enemy deepstrikers coming down within 12" of him. * The sniper bike is HQ, the Female Magus is just an alternative Magus model. The other characters are Elite (although not sure). * Astra Millitarum detachments can be taken, but don't contribute as many (or any?) Command Points, don't get Regimental bonuses, but do get +1 Ld. No AM named characters allowed. * Baneblades and equivalent can be taken. * There will be 6 Cult "Cults" with there own rules (like Chapter Tactics/Hive Fleets). This includes Bladed Cog and Pauper Princes. * There is still one version of Patriarch, but between 6 pychic powers, warlord traits and heirlooms he'll be customisable. One Patriarch per detachment. * The big frag drill terrain will allow us to cause earthquakes. There you go. 😊 Attachments:

So from the sounds of it, the GCs will be the army whose theme is 'how many headaches can we cause for the enemy'.

So from the sounds of it, the GCs will be the army whose theme is 'how many headaches can a cause for the enemy'. yeah their theme is fragile glass cannons that pop up and do deployment/movement shenanigans to mitigate their extreme fragility (a T3 5+ save chassis for almost all the units is pretty fragile). Reason the index is unworkable currently is due to high point costs for the decent units and the removal of all those mitigating factors currently with the horrible cult ambush table and changes to base rules.

actually in thinking more about this buff-dude... as much as I like abberrants I'm unsure how I would ever use him?
If you cult ambush with the abberrants then they're rolling on the (terrible) ambush table which you need a Primus to mitigate.
If there is no more cult ambush table (I can dream) then why add a random buff character to the unit when I can instead add a predictable buff unit (primus for +1 to hit, abominant for exploding 6's) that is almost always better than a random buff?
Jury's always still out, and the model is pretty cool... so yeah... I'll buy it...lol... but I'm trying to think of a time I'd use him rather than other options

..... well I guess THAT goes on the purchase list... looks way cooler than the truck (which is why I built mine as rockgrinders to begin with - well that an giant drill blades look way cooler!)
I mean heavy mining lasers kinda suck with BS4+ and heavy stubbers are utter trash... but it's super cool looking so I'm getting some...lol
GW is killing me with the wait for this though... but my wallet is probably happier that it gets to wait a bit.

I fear the ridge runner is going to go the same way as the orks cool vehicle models, about 100 pts and will fall down to a stiff breeze on the table. Tho it will look super cool while its on the table for a turn.
