Well Vect might be the supreme commander spot it would fit! The old Vect strat was way too many CP, especially once 9th hits. New one will get used EVERY game. That is an awesome mechanic and very efficient!

It's definitely different. It's no longer counterspell. Interestingly, it means Vect won't affect once-per-game strats, and the current theme of list building of "so this list uses strat X every turn" immediately breaks now.
Through you are always guaranteed to get your strat(s) off now (except while playing against 4AE GSC since I assume they won't get their codex for another 8-12 months yet)

Well Vect might be the supreme commander spot it would fit! That won't be for at least 2 more editions I would think

Honestly with the way they did the Triphum of st Catherine's for sisters you could easily do vect on this throne with his court around him. Make it more of a diaramic style model rather than a single small one.

Given the introduction of supreme commanders, if GW don't include vect I think it's a huge missed opportunity for the faction.

That's 100% how I would do Vect....triumph/silent king style. Where they loose abilities/weapons as they hit wound thresholds. Im sure it would look awesome.

Vect started as a model on a modified Ravager. Then he was able to be on foot or on the Dias (Ravager). Then he was cut completely from the rules. I would personally love to see him come back as a Diorama type model. He is such a core character for Drukhari that it really would be a missed chance to make easy money off any old or new player out there.
And he truly is the definition of a Supreme Commander if there ever was one. Plus in the Path series he travels around Commorragh on a flying pyramid ship (at least I think I'm remembering that right...it's been a while since I read it) which they could basically just model his throne portion from.

They're playing them again tonight with a different style list too, and again Saturday iirc.

They're playing them again tonight with a different style list too, and again Saturday iirc. they said during the Saturday game they would be bringing the "most optimized" list. I don't know what they'll play against but they briefly mentioned Death Guard. Could be a very competitive matchup on Saturday if that's the case.

Apparently there are so many varied builds with this book (according to Titans and Goonhammer at least) that there isn't just "one list" to be competitive - there's a lot of different options, including the first army to actually meaningfully use leadership tactics.

Played my coven list today... have a few highlights and lowlights (Thanks Jonathan for the game!)
The good:
Grotesques are better than ever, and they were pretty much the best thing before.
The new power from pain chart is amazing.
I thought prophets of flesh losing the 4++ was going to really suck - it did NOT. The transhuman thing came up WAY more often than I thought it was going to, and required less homunculus babysitting than before.
Coven having a 5+ FNP just feels alot better in my mind, so it's a welcome change.
the bad/ugly:
Urien is just terrible offensively. He couldn't beat up a cryptek today in a one on one fight. Sure he couldn't die, but still. I'd take a master homunculus over him.
Talos chain flails losing the reroll wounds makes me wish I never armed all my talos with chain flails! They're super pricey for what they are... mind you the lack of opposing vehicles (so no real targets for the haywire blasters) probably contributed to their "meh" performance. They just struggled to kill anything with lack of AP (outside of 6's to wound). Would likely be much better not vs. necrons or marines!
Wracks are alright...but I want to take alot less of them now. tried the flamer option today (it sucked). They probably lost the most from the change to prophets of flesh, as going to a 6++ really made them vaporize alot quicker. I tried the upgraded squad today... didn't do a whole lot, but took a charge from skorpekh destroyers and lived with half remaining... so they're alright I guess. less bad than just "alright I guess"..
The codex secondary options are pretty terrible. I mean they have the mirror to the necron one of keeping people out of quarters which could potentially be okay.
A unit of 3 Talos seems inferior to a significantly less expensive units of 6 grotesques. That seems weird to me.
-------------
So the new codex I think is a vast improvement to the previous incarnation for certain. It just seems like I really bought into a lot of the stuff that didn't really translate as strongly to the new codex. (I don't like to think about how much I paid for 7 talos/cronos kits)
I really want to buy OTHER things now though instead of coven, which I guess is a solid move on GW's part lol... I WOULD have bought quite a bit today if there was something left on the shelf!

Yeah, free Transhuman Physiology for the entire army really messed things up for my army. Because between the strength and the -1 toughness aura, I'm used to wounding on 2 or 3s when not attacking vehicles.
As I said at the end of the match, if you can take a large number of infantry/caff units that normally get wounded easily but now have the TP, the invul and the FnP? Your opponent is going to have to do a lot more shooting than average to kill a unit.
