shooting into combat? shoot and move strat? upgraded guns? this is very good news for Tau players
That reroll strat seems a LITTLE pricey for a crisis bomb, but that being said I haven't had one drop down and hose down one of my units yet with their new guns so I might be "3 CP is fine!" after that happens to me once lol

Yeah im curious if the Gatling burst cannon relic and the multi tracker stack for those extra hit's and I'm kinda excited to use crisis suit in melee and be more offensive in this new codex now i really need to rebase my old ones now.
drop threat acquisition is kind of similar to drop zone clear(enclaves only) but I'm curious how useful it will be with re-roll hit's instead of +1 to hit and now that any sept can use it

You said you have to rebase your crisis suits. Did they change base size recently? I don't recall seeing that in the article, but then again, I have been known to miss things like that before.
What size base are they supposed to be on?

When crisis first came out they were on 40mm like terminators, the most recent box has them on 50mm bases and commanders on 60mm bases.

As Racey said they went from 40 -> 50 it was some where after 6th ed also i might need to rebase one of my commanders too im thinking about getting these for simplicity and not having to remake my basing ( www.ebay.ca/itm/174172376388 ) im not sure if anyone knows something better or not or if they have had experience with these too.

Crisis bomb with 9 suits armed with 2 burst and a ATS . and if they keep their customized sept tenets take up-gunned. You essentially have 12x9 = 108 shots at str 5 ap-2. At bs 4+ with reroll thats 81 hits. T4 = 54 wounds / T5 = 40 wounds / T6+ = 27 wounds. At AP -2. And that doesnt include any other bonuses like marker lights or Mont’ka on turn 2 making those burst cannons ap-3 and reroll 1s to wound. i think crisis bomb is back on the table. And you cant be locked up.. point blank burst cannons…..

Keep in mind under current points that's like a 600-700 point unit.

Shooting in melee will basically delete wyches....which is hilarious spoiler for one of the best tarpits in the game.
(For those not tracking they only get a 4++ against melee attacks)

Ya I'm not going to lie that the battle suit update did no get me hyped at all. The only thing that really ha any affect on the way I think tau will play is the +2 on flamers will help if we keep the 4+ BS (which would be a slap in the face) and the Shoot then jump away strat.
None of the other issue where really solved by this update. Shooting in combat is resoundingly average when it comes down to it. It lets the enemy force you to shoot where they want, it only happens on your turn vs being decent in melee happens in EVERY turn, its not fall back and shoot to deny target blocking/melee phase.
Until I see some stat lines or points, this feels like a half measure that doesn't really deal with the main issues suits had.

well shooting in combat is pretty huge on primarily shooting monsters (ie: tyrannofex etc.) so I would still view this as a positive step forward for an army which is so worried about getting tagged in combat.
Giving an option that wasn't there before is certainly a lot better than not having the option at all. As someone who primarily runs melee armies, this is immediately something that makes me have to think about what I'm willing to run into a battlesuit unit when I know I might be eating either high volume shots (infantry) or even fusion shots (for a monster) the next turn. Suddenly tagging in melee no longer shuts down shooting or keeps my unit safe.

Keep in mind under current points that's like a 600-700 point unit. not Really. Under current points its only ++ Auxiliary Support Detachment -2CP (T'au Empire) [24 PL, 414pts, -2CP] +++ Configuration +Detachment Command Cost [-2CP]+ Elites +XV8 Crisis Battlesuits [24 PL, 414pts]. Crisis Shas'ui: Advanced targeting system, 2x Burst cannon . Crisis Shas'ui: Advanced targeting system, 2x Burst cannon . Crisis Shas'ui: Advanced targeting system, 2x Burst cannon . Crisis Shas'ui: Advanced targeting system, 2x Burst cannon . Crisis Shas'ui: Advanced targeting system, 2x Burst cannon . Crisis Shas'ui: Advanced targeting system, 2x Burst cannon . Crisis Shas'ui: Advanced targeting system, 2x Burst cannon . Crisis Shas'ui: Advanced targeting system, 2x Burst cannon . Crisis Shas'vre: Advanced targeting system, 2x Burst cannon ++ Total: [24 PL, -2CP, 414pts] ++Created with BattleScribeis still just under a quarter of your army, but still effective. its more fun when you look at stealth suits. Normally deployed forward, being shot with 4-6 burst cannons after your turn ma make you second guess charging them. it gets more more fun when you add strats. Assuming the strats stay the same. Coordinate engagement. Which give a enemy unit that the crisis suits are shooting 5 marker lights..

I am cautiously hopeful. Not going to put any thought into theory crafting at the moment though. I bet (hope) a TONNE is gonna change in the new dex.

I'm assuming that since it was in 6th edition, any Crisis Suits or Start Collecting sets bought these days would have the 50mm base already. Well, I would hope so anyway. Actually, on that note, what edition did Start Collecting boxes first come out in?
