If I could use them in 40k and HH, I'd be tempted by the Emperor's Children. But I'm not sure I could paint that many marines without adding some spikes. Could do late heresy/siege of terra theme force. They were super freaky/spiky by then.

my friend connor is gonna go Sons of Horus. I'm really interested but picking a legion has been torturous so far. (Short list is white scars, blood angels, or word bearers but im far from decided) I put my vote in for Blood Angels, with the Scars coming in close second.

Blood angels have some beautiful kits, they even have Dominion Zephon in plastic too.

Pretty neat seeing how many people have or are planning to get HH forces!

Please stop. I just successfully talked myself out of ordering the new knights and I'm trying to stay strong.
But, uh, how much of the 30k stuff do you figure will be compatible with the new CSM book?
But then again I'd want to trade out those beaky heads for MK IV anyway.
I love that they're selling weapon boxes too. Curious to see the pricing on the 20 man kits. I'd hope to see $100, but fear it's closer to $140, following the new price per squad we're seeing with new releases.

Probably mostly the same parts that are already compatible with firstborn marines. In the sense that a bolter marine is a bolter marine is a bolter marine, or a contemptor dread is a contemptor etc. Wacky demon and chaos stuff I've no idea, but I know Typhus has a fairly agnostic iron warriors force that he's used with both CSM and loyalist rules on occasions

I'm already planning on adding more 40k themed chaos elements to the force but matching the paint and basing of the 30k one.

I’m also really excited for this as well. I’ve started the Horus Heresy books on Audible and I’m currently on A Thousand Sons. I will be expanding my 40K (30k themed) World Eaters.

I got a bunch of 30k Alpha Legion along with their guard allies. Hopefully that theme is still valid....

So, to anyone that knows about the rules for the current edition of 30K, is there the option to create your own legion with its own colour scheme (you could say it's one of the two lost/redacted legions), or are you forced to use the colours of one of the official legions.
I'm not always the biggest fan of painting official colour schemes, so want to know if I'd have to do one, or if I can do whatever scheme I want.

I'm not always the biggest fan of painting official colour schemes, so want to know if I'd have to do one, or if I can do whatever scheme I want. Unfortnately not really, as at that time Successor chapters weren't even a glimmer in the organization chart yet. Everything was still organized at the Legion level. It wasn't until after the Heresy, when the Lords of Terra broke the marine legions down into smaller forces to prevent any one force being large enough to do what Horus did without alerting lots of wandering eyes/ears. You're kind of "shoehorned" into the legion color schemes as they appeared in the heresy, though some legions changed color schemes a few times. Example: The Dusk Raiders (later knowns as Death Guard) began as just slate grey armor with a red right arm and golden trim to signify them (at the time) being "the red right arm of the emperor". Plus, there's lots of different ways to represent the standard legion colors, you don't HAVE to have the exact red that everyone else does for your red armor, you could hue it up or down, metallic underneath, bone colored then glaze red, etc. etc.
