Amazon has acquired GWs movie and TV rights (among other things) globally.
Henry Cavill is signed on to executive produce/provide creative direction to all the projects, as well as starring in some of them

Vertigo Entertainment is interesting as a studio. Lots of great aeathetic horror films along with the Lego movie

Interested to see how it plays out. I don't have much faith in amazon, but surely Cavill will do a good job if allowed.

With him as an Exec Producer, let's hope there's not a repeat of what happened with the Witcher. Though we all know that GW is fiercely protective of their IP. I have hope they'll put a team of loremasters on the show to make sure it's right.
Just keep that turd who designed the Magnus model WELL clear of any of this...

Just keep that turd who designed the Magnus model WELL clear of any of this... Is there some controversy to do with this I'm not aware of?? This seems... bizarrely specific.

In the "design diary" for Magnus the Red, the guy who designed the model said he added "ports into his arms and chest, to represent the time when he was a SPace Marine prior to becoming a daemon primarch." Umm... pardon? Magnus was NEVER a Space Marine, he was always a Primarch, and never had a black carapace installed; no different than any other Primarch, you no talent idiot clown. I had to drill those parts out of his arms and chest on mine and then green stuff over them to fix his screw-up.

Ah I see- I never even noticed. But you know what I did notice? Repentia have 'em! You know, because SoBs are just female space marines It appears at some point they decided everyone who wears power armour has those jacks despite it being a space marine original, but then a ton of lore has been retconned since around that time so it wouldn't exactly be the first or largest casualty.

I'm sure they will do the lore justice. GW wouldn't allow the deviation, even if Cavill would.
I mostly worry the budget will be inadequate and it will be lackluster, or it will get the money it needs but gets the axe after a fantastic season or two because it was too expensive to meet profit requirements.
Hopefully the guys at the top are interested in building up a long term venture and expanding the fanbase, rather than a quick cash in.

GW is notoriously cheap over their own tie-ins so uh... yeah budget is your main concern. See: Warhammer+. Or if you go back further the Ultramarines movie. The best tie-in products are mostly from really good game developer/publisher combos who paid to have access to the ip back when GW was less protective of it.
I dunno about the lore question - honestly GW plays pretty fast and loose with their own lore. As a longtime black library reader, the official sanctioned stuff is... honestly it's mostly junk. The good writers are consistently good but there's only a handful of them, and it's been a long time since the core lore team were best in class. Just look at how uneven all the main plot beats have been since 8th- piles of retcons and dubious nonsensical arcs that go nowhere. Ultramar is sacked- no wait nevermind it's fine. Cadia's gone but don't worry about it, doesn't matter. The third war of armageddon goes on forever, the invasion of bhaal goes on forever. Ghaz gets his head cut off by Ragnar because we need a lore reason for his model to be beeg. Marneus gets all his arms and legs cut off for the fourth time in his career because it's funny I guess. Remember psychic awakening? Me neither. Primaris marines... not even GW is sure what's the deal with these guys! Usually we just pointedly ignore there's two breeds of marines still but other times we hyperfocus and it gets weird and seemingly contradictory.
Personally my hope would be that GW's people aren't overly involved and they hire a competent writing team who are familiar enough with the setting they know what elements to just ignore lol.

It's a licensing deal, so amazon and vertigo are paying GW to make this (in some capacity). GW doesn't have the staff to micro-manage of project of this size.
