well I'm into this big time.
Nids, Votann, GSC, Daemons, orks, my wraith list... ALL benefit from having just being allowed to make the army you want without costing CP to have to take multiple detachments.
obsec still incentivizes troops enough that they warrant bringing along but if you happen to have a book with crap troops, or perhaps one where only stupid pointy headed eldar are troops and you want to bring only DEAD ELVES, now it doesn't cost you 3 CP to be a wraith-loving weirdo, or cost 1 CP to bring a giant terrible wraithknight.... (ahem, this might only affect me actually)
I'm totally into the opening up of the force org, and this might be one of my favourite rule changes I've seen in a long time.

I hope we see a wide ranging points adjustment to go along with this, particularly for troop units. It also feels like all sub-factions with "everything is objective secured" need to go away.
And that Votaan can be taken as a patrol for free in Imperium just looks like a disgusting money grab.

This might be a Homer Simpson " shut up and take my money!" situation for me...

I will say with the reference to battle brothers and restrictions I know this has always been a place that xeno get shafted... chaos, imperial, eldar and even nids have some one to mix with.
I hope that tau, crons, orks who don't have a dance partner get something like ally with yourself and mix clans/sept/dynasty.
And yes votann getting to join imperial seems like a cash grab when everyone knows the tau have been thier friends since 4th lore...the Demiurg. Tho I'll be the first to admit votaan melee and tau shooting would be hard to balance in a meaningful way.

allowing tau/cron/orks to do a allied dynasty would be pretty awesome
can't say I'd be using the allies rule much... but chaos might be fun... and nids+GSC would be thematic and cool on the table, even if it would just make a nid list much, much worse lol

This new detachment will allow me to build a better necron legion than my 96 Immortal list. Now i can field 120 immortals ( 1920pts) and a technomancer. (70).

Really sad we're not allowed lists for things that don't have dedicated kits. Traitor guard forces and their equivalents are such a staple of the fiction and essentially aren't represented in the game despite being a perfect conversion opportunity.

The premise is sound for a homogeneous list but you do miss out on flavour since at that point it's just cosmetic, since outside of pure house rules territory your traitor guard army isn't incorporating daemon engines, mutants, possessed and other chaos allies they'd be aligned with

Well traitor guard are guard that can take Chaos allies. boom... codex done the vast majority of all the games we all play are for fun locally. I'd gladly play against a guard army with csm allies because they're traitor guard. Hell it makes MORE sense than guard with Votann allies in my mind!
