One more unit done. The DA Legion Praetor took a while but I have never claimed to be a fast painter. It took me about 8 hours including fixing mistakes I made with the cloak assembly. How long might it have taken you? I’m curious. Day 50: Continue picking out details. Work on plasma gun. Paint stone details and wash base. Wash both sides of cape. Base colour and wash for helmet crest. Post to thread. Day 51: More details & colour washes. Grey lining & highlights. Black wash. Prepare reconnection points on fig & cape. Work on backpack. Finish sword. Sculpt base. Select weathering powders. Dry brush crest (5 layers). Day 52: Sculpt set. 2 colour coats on sculpt. Glue and sand on base. Dry brush lighter gold layer on some trim. Day 53: Re-paint & wash part of base. Mix custom weathering powder. Research weathering powders & oils (20 mins.). Apply powder to base, legs, tabard. Seal. Re-attach cape. Day 54: Scanned transfer sheets. Attached new mount and backpack. Added tufts to base. Picked out eyes on backpack icon. Day 55: Select, cut, & apply transfers. Repaint "beak' red and wash. Touch up gold and red on cape. Highlight beak. Matte varnish transfers and cape inside & out. Day 56: Weathering cape (10 mins.). DONE. Set up, photo, tear down. Editting. Post to imgur. Still getting in over 60 minutes a day, so happy to maintain that for now. Below are some imgur links for the Praetor and a few older projects. Hopefully I’m showing progress from where I was. As before, all comments and suggestions are welcome. Progress is almost too good to be true based on past experience. Next up I have a Nephilim on the bench. Thanks for reading and have a great hobby week!

Definitely some impressive progress so far! I need to step up my game, ha. Oh, and I'm sure it would not have taken me less time to finish that praetor. Speed is not my strong suit, as I have demonstrated.
Neither is maintaining focus. So many beastmen to paint, and for some reason I'm thinking about painting purple space marines instead.

Quality has a... quality of its own! Your Beasts look stunning, so keep on going on with what you are doing! And paint some great purple space marines to recharge.

Slow and steady has its' rewards. I would be the last one to tell anybody to speed up. I'm big on comfort zone when it comes to things I enjoy.

And another one bites the dust (week, model, take your pick). This was the week of the flyer. A Nephilim in this case. Wing emblems on the topside could be smoother but I was using a brush and even sanding couldn’t smooth everything out. Still, okay for tabletop. Day 57: Start Nephilim. Dark grey edge lining. Buy and start to fill more plastic parts containers. Day 58: More edge lining (lots of them). White coat on upper wings. Day 59: Even more edge lining. Re-coat some black panels. Dry brush tail icons. Pick out details of icons. Day 60: Set up March calendar. Sanded white wing pattern. Still more edge lining. Red details on engine cowlings & guns. Red wash applied. Metal details on antennae and engine exhausts. Day 61: More edge lining. (Will it never end?) Day 62: Edge lining complete! Thank (insert who/whatever you believe in here)! Dry brush colours. Add metallics to sensors on nose. Select & apply transfers. Day 63: Recoat white skull bursts. Fill wonky barrel drill with putty. Supplier research for parts. Black wash metal parts. Matte varnish transfers. Thraka Green wash & highlight tail beacon. Kador Red dry brush on red parts. Day 64: Small touches. DONE!! Discussion of pricing criteria for commissions & speculative work in the hobby space. Okay, so day 64 is this week, but since only 10 minutes was involved for the small touches, why not? Not certain what my next project will be. The main problem with being spoiled for choice. I’ve posted the Nephilim and an old project on imgur. Let me know what you think of them. Nephilim imgur.com/gallery/10RSyl4Orky Klaws imgur.com/gallery/io1T9tEMay you all have a fun and productive hobby week!

This was a quiet week. My new project is a FW Ork warboss on warbike. I haven’t had a lot of time to work on it but it is under way. Day 65: Photo session & editing. Post to imgur. Post to thread.
Day 66: New build. Locate, inventory, and start cleaning flash and shims.
Day 67: Wash & dry parts. Let parts air dry overnight.
Day 68: Watch assembly videos. FW instructions are the worst and I don’t like to screw up models that cost what these do.
Day 69: Work on fitting & gluing rear assembly.
Day 70: Fitted guns to main frame. Arm on body. Found more flash to clear. Wheel to front forks.
I’m doing this one in 3 sub-assemblies. There is a lot of detail on this model. I own a few FW models and a few recasts. I’m always amazed that the knock-offs require so much less cleaning up than the originals. That’s it for this week. Everybody stay well and enjoy the hobby.

Week 11 was different again. Time for some housekeeping and research.
Day 71: Added to 2 of 4 sub-assemblies.
Day 72: Added to 1 sub-assembly.
Day 73: Added to 3 sub-assemblies. Base coat 3 of 4 sub-assemblies.
Day 74: Added left foot peg. Right did not take glue. Base coat 4th sub-assembly.
Day 75: Start cleaning up and making space in hobby area.
Day 76: Continued cleaning up hobby area. Painted metal parts of 2 sub-assemblies. Right foot peg still being a pain.
Day 77: Time to test the sale waters. Started researching my old military model kits for prices. Most are from the 70’s and 80’s, with some OOP. Will be posting soon to board.
I think it’s about time to unload some of my older kits if anybody is interested. First up will be my old 1/35 military kits as they are simply the closest to hand. Researching them has been kind of a nightmare. The price ranges are nuts for some of them. Finding middle ground and then adjusting for condition, completeness, etc. has been more work than I thought it would be. The marketplace will of course tell me in blunt (and possibly unpleasant) terms if I’ve been nuts to invest the time and effort, or if my pricing is way off, but an interesting exercise any way it ends. That’s it for this week. Everybody stay well and enjoy the hobby.

Thanks! The combination of a very broad interpretation of what "hobby" means and dumbass luck for the most part. But I can live with both.8)

Week 12 felt like I'm back on track. The FW Warboss on bike was frustrating me so I largely set it aside. Umbral 6 was sitting at eye level on the tower so this week I cracked the box and got started. Day 78: Check contents of military kits. Continue working on sale posting. Post to hobby streak thread. Day 79: Start work on Umbral 6. Will be magnetizing. Cut, clean up, and dry fit 6's perch. Edit sale doc for posting. Work on DA company champion. Details & transfers. The champion is an older model I did basic colour work on a while ago. Time to finish him. Day 80: Finish building 6's perch. Start test fitting for magnet and new base. Energy effect for blade, add red planet grime to him. Day 81: Modify & magnetize perch. Add gold lettering to shoulder pad of champion. CHAMPION DONE. Day 82: Base coat and metal coat perch. Build & base coat Umbral sub-assemblies. Work on base coat on Warboss. Day 83: Black wash on perch. Umbral snaps off base. File down & re-glue. Bronze on helmet lenses. Weathering powder & seal on perch. Camo & details on Umbral. Base coat on bases. Plastic putty on left wrist connection. Day 84: Snow on perch & Umbral. Drilled out rifle muzzle. Painted re-built wrist join. Touch ups on scope. Blue wash on webbing. Accents on backpack. Finish metal coat on rim of Umbral base. DONE. Links for these and an old project are below. Umbral 6 imgur.com/gallery/I8Z8tzwDark Angels Company Champion imgur.com/gallery/G4urfawAxmuz Gitz imgur.com/gallery/W7p17ZNTwo models finished. I’m now just over 1500 points ytd. Got in just over an hour a day on average. This coming week I’m re-focusing on the Warboss and should have the posting for the military models in the Trade Depot. Enjoy your hobby time!

Week 13. Looks like I might have a chance at 100 days! I was doing some sorting and came across a Red Gobbo. Couldn’t resist working on him. Finding the warboss less frustrating this week. Day 85: Photo shoot. Edit photos. Post to imgur. Post to thread. Re-start Warboss project. Flesh, mouth, teeth. Again, lots of nooks and crannies on this model. Day 86: Finish base coat on main sub now that foot peg finally adhered. Paint red shirt & armour plate. Day 87: Sort 2nd hand figs. Continue colour blocking warboss (pants, left arm mechanism). Day 88: Continue colour blocking boss & main bike sub. Cleaned Red Gobbo parts. Day 89: Prepped Red Gobbo, built, started painting sub-assemblies. Day 90: Colour blocking subs. Sculpted base. Day 91: Sort & bag parts. Work on Red Gobbo & base. Not exciting and no end product this week but progress continues. Sticking with it has been my biggest challenge in hobby-ing for years so I’m pretty happy with things so far. I thought I’d post another old project to imgur. Several years (and editions) ago, I got the idea to field an Ork force built around 9 Killa Kans at a tournament. I think I won a couple of games just from the “what the hell is this” reactions I got. Anyhow, here are Jumpa and Kikka. Jumpa imgur.com/gallery/WHEa66ZKikka imgur.com/gallery/iC2Pv84
