I'm sorry to do this to everyone but I have to point it out. This is exactly what happened before fantasy changed into AoS
1) updates to armies are being released through campaign books (Fantasy added a bunch of chaos stuff and the idea of alliances, here were getting a few new units and formations) 2) they've referenced "the end times" and, well we all know what happened after the fantasy "end times"
Just saying...

1) We've been getting formations from sources that aren't Codexes since almost before formations were even a thing, in the form of dataslates, this is nothing new.
2) They've been referencing the "End Times" since...shit, 15 years ago? Everything in the 40k storyline has been heading too the new millennium, and we've been sitting at 999.99 for some time now. Everyone (who's been actively following the lore) has been waiting for this.
However, the big difference between 40k and WFB, is that people actually play 40k. In comparison, anyway, it's a vast, vast difference in what was making money. That said, AOS isn't doing much better (if at all? I missed the numbers) than WFB was. Because of that, and with everything in mind, GW isn't going to change 40k in any drastic way any time soon.
Edit, formations before formations were a thing were totally a thing.

AOS is selling far better than WFB was. Even locally. All reports said it hit targets. Plus their new price point on AOS softcovers is pretty stellar

I guess we shall wait and see what they are getting up too. Would be cool to see a new Eye of Terror style campaign that pulled all the 40k armies back into the fluff and story line. I think as for the new edition seems unlikely with the quick change over from 6 to 7 but who knows whats goes on at GW these days.

There was a gigantic Eye of Terror campaign back during 3rd edition where Abbadon and the 13th crusade descended upon the Cadian gate, and battle results were to determine storyline going forward. However, GW like it always has, called the results a draw and basically nothing came of the 6 month campaign.
Honestly they could afford to push the story forward 1k years and allow for new stories to develop.

I still think a huge Eye of terror style thing would be cool.

just thought i would look at the wulfen since you know i have the book and thought well how did space wolfs turn out.
OMG wulfen are crazy. i first look at them and thought, oh they are space wolf death company. rage, feel no pain. lots of attacks (more then death company) but no fearless and a worse save, no furious charge but they are +1 str vs death company so thats better in rounds to come. but a higher int but can't take jump packs. ok not bad.
then you see you can give everyone a +1 str ap 2 sherd weapon that is specialist. meaning even more attacks, and for only 8 points more then that upgrade you can make a guy the sergent who comes with the weapon and has an extra attack.
even a 5 man squad costing 218 points, would have 27 str 6 ap 2 attacks on the charge at int 5. thats a min squad with just the two upgrades i mentioned. now yes you would want them in a land raider so they can get to what they are attacking. but they will murderate what they are going against.

I'm so excited to get some of my own. Honestly if they came out two weeks ago I would have changed my list to get them in. There is one slight difference to how I read the wulfen murderpack. You only get the +1 to the curse of the wulfen rule for every wulfen unit AFTER the first. Not for each like I had mistakenly read. Still awesome, just need more wulfen to get that double movement. Then I was thinking taking a spear of Russ to take 2 land raiders for 2 units of a wulfen pack to ride in safely.

Two units would be pretty crazy. You will have to be carful with then tho. They can destroy what they fight and then get left in the open and die pretty easy

Still reading through the rules booklet and the wyrdstorm brotherhood has some wording that I saw misread or mistranslated. The living storm power (S7 AP- Assault 2D6, Shock) can only be cast by 1 model from the brotherhood though the player can pick it, and each OTHER rune priest adds D6 shots to it. So the min 2 rune priests would fire 3D6 shots and not 4D6. Still though, give a rune priest the Helm of Durfast and ignore jink saves of those skimmers or flyers if you wish.

3d6 is still good, and str 7 is nice. just ask some tau that met with some flickering flame on saturday. its str 5 2d6 warp charge one but you can make it warp charge two and add a d6 shots. and it killed a lot lol.

you know now that there is an even more werewolf space wolf unit, they will have to make a more vampirey (?) blood angel unit.
i think it would be neat to have them instead of something old like old tech found or an old company, but to have them as mephiston (vampire Jesus him self) round up some chosen death company or people who have given in to the red thirst. and basicly try to do to them what happened to him.
then have a unit of baby mephistons lol
