Forget the seeker chariot conversion. If correct they aren't worth using for heralds anymore. But you will need herald support, they just might as well be on foot.

My biggest disappointment is soul grinders. Stayed exactly the same....couldn't make them function before... sigh

Phlem becoming heavy d6 instead of d3 as well as full str attacks becoming 5 instead of 3 will help
But yes the big problem with them has not been addressed. The fact that they are 9k at shooting but have no way to mitigate their heavy weapons and they are ok at close combat. Not really good at either. More shots and attacks will help but not really fix the problem.

I'm fine with them having a 4+ at shooting, they shouldn't be as good as normal dreads at that... but a 4+ to hit in combat with five attacks is just subpar... the closest comparison I can give is a fex... which gets a 3+ on a charge, causes mortal wounds after a charge does a flat 3 damage at -3 and rerolls 1's to hit. (basic scything fex). Oh and it's also under 100 points. Sure it has half the wounds, but it's less than half the points and better in combat. And if you make it a shooting platform it does that better too. You can get three bare bones for the price of one grinder. Buffing them further is super easy through characters, spore cysts, enhanced senses, and the basic hive fleet bonuses.
I just feel GW really missed the mark with grinders in 8th. They were pretty subpar in the index too. Love the model, but can't justify bringing them when everything else is better!

Oh I agree. They are far from perfect.
Now 5 str 16 attacks or 10 str 8 if you take the warp bone claw (which I do) is nice.
But yes if it's close combat then you are paying all those points for ranged weapons for nothing because they just come with it. Or if you are using it for range you see paying for the close combat weapons.
Which he can do damage but as you said is subpar in both aspects for the cost

10 S8 is the best option by far.
but that's still on average 5 hits and 3 wounds on T5+
for a pretty huge point cost.
I think if they were going to leave them basically as is, around 180 would make them still much pricier than a dread, but at least something I'd consider.
Compare to a death company dread and it's just sad.
but all told there are many good things in this book - the relics, spells and strategems... units appear to be mostly the same... unless you're nurgle of course! sure the GUO's are 80 more points but with more options and SIX more wounds??? ummm yeah, I'll pay that.
Nurgle and Khorne appear to be the ones that got the most. Tzeentch got hit pretty hard, and Slaanesh kind of just stayed the same?

Slaanesh got more consistent from game to game, but that's about it. Though heralds have to walk or go on seekers now. Chariot changes look like buffs from the outside but are a hard nerf for heralds.
