rumour from over on Faeit:
These things happen on occasion, and it appears that someone caught a glimpse of the new Daemon Codex! Some things were spotted of course, so here is what was said.
While I take this as a credible sighting, please take it as a rumor until we get official intel.
via anonymous readers here on Faeit 212 (the reader was asked to remain anonymous) Visited the 40k Open day with friends yesterday, and got a sneaky peak at the rear of the new demon codex. No pictures though! Can confirm a new Great Unclean One model, Horticulous Slimux is in there and some kind of new Nurgle demon I have never seen before. The GUO is very similar in size to the Forgeworld version. The New demon was similar to plaguebearers in height but a lot bulkier. Only one too, so could be a new character/herald?
Didn't get a long look before being ushered away!

Makes a lot of sense that a new GUO model is on the way. The bloodthirster got its turn a while ago, followed by the Lord of Change. With all the Deathguard stuff this year, it would definitely make sense.

Plus that as a clampack would sell very well on it's own I think.
I'm still unsure why they just didn't release the Glottkin model with an optional "no rider" build as the GUO. It's a great model, and the size/look is right, and costs about the same as the thirster kit. I'm tempted to pick it up every time I see the damn thing.

I'm excited for the new daemon book for sure.
But I remember hearing rumors that when the Glotkin model came out it was the plastic GUO repurposed to use for the End Times. I thought they would do what they did with Skarbrand and re-box it with an additional sprue to make a GUO. But I would be happy to see a new model instead of a extra sprue with Glotkin.

I'm super excited too!
hoping that changes in the daemon dex will make up for the massive point hikes for the FW units!

The super chicken, who got super fried by about 300pts of Guard in one turn.

The super chicken, who got super fried by about 300pts of Guard in one turn. yep... Scabby was nuked at the team tourney by a couple squads of havocs, who had just nuked Magnus before that for first blood.
the big monsters are NOT survivable vs. any dedicated anti-tank.... which is why I never bring just one monster in a list these days... it's all or nothing I'm afraid. It'd be like bringing one rhino and going "why are all my tanks dead?"
Guard with orders are just devastating to MC's. The FW greater daemons are more of a liability to a list after chapter approved - I mean I guess you CAN still bring them, but adding 200 points to the cost of Scabby means I'd have to lose a LOT off my list just to bring him. He's just not worth the price of four flying daemon princes! (hopefully they bring back Kul'gath in the daemon dex so I have a suitable use for Cthulhu!)

Im looking forward to this book to give daemons a new way to play. My wish list is -bonuses for play mono god -warlord traits for each god -make pinks worth taking -make flamers weapons assault and not pistol -make screamers do something other then hit like a wet noodle There are more things but id be happy if they changed these.

my guesses (with zero knowledge, but just based on the previous books)
- God specific bonuses (much like chapter tactics, hive fleets, craftworlds, etc.) that also allow unique strategems
- warlord traits tailored to the four gods (much like in the campaign book)
- point adjustments in line with the FAQ for troop units
- strategems which are tailored to what each god is good at (magic, combat etc.)
- more customization options for characters (bringing back gifts)
- more relics -> god specific.
- flamers will be assault like regular flamers
- screamers will go back to an anti-tank option
- soul grinders will get beefed up (as they're hot garbage now)
- bringing back more deep strike options

I could see their argument for making them pistols.
If they kept the "auto-hits" and the range of a regular flamer then they'd still get to shoot in the melee phase.
Keeps them from being neutered if they get caught in melee.

They should have two flame pistols lol.

The pistol rule for Flamers are awesome. But there is no incentive to stay in combat. If they are charged they overwatched and you can flee and still fire their weapons since they have the fly keyword. Better to retreat. But I would love to have the deepstrike rule come back to daemons.

I still just want to know what they do with Horrors. I feel like they've gotta fix them in...several ways. But the current rules are still in the CSM dex, so it'll be tricky to do a hard change.
