Well I'm glad I'm not the only one excited for the dark kin to become the most powerful beings in the universe once again

Before you say "Look another edition with no new models or Vect!" remember GW doesn't care.
Also they got almost an entire army coming in the next few months. Or do you not pay attention to AOS cause damn those Deepkin models look cool. Can't wait to see the sea turtle Vect conversions that come out of it.
Also, I'm not bitter.
Maybe.

Well the first teaser popped up. I've never even fought Dark Eldar (or read their section in the index) but I can see 'Raiding Force' making for some very weird lists. Multiple patrol detachments equal more command points? Definitely at right angles to how most armies are built. Though the stratagem to give multiple characters warlord traits seems very powerful.

given the three detachment limit at 2k, it's not exactly easy to get 3 patrols filled out for 2,000 points
but 7 CP total isn't too shabby as a trade off

Now we will have to wait and see but that would make DE have some crazy weird list flexibility.

I am going to refrain from raising any hopes at this point, but I like the idea of being able to take a patrol of each group instead of trying to build the mix within a battalion

Though there might be mechanics that let you set up a bunch of patrols with different Obsessions (DE faction bonuses) and specializing each group to a different task.
That's hard to do in other races (IE Necrons and I imagine Guard) since the vital character buffs/auras only effect the faction of the character. But if the DE are designed around a collection of small patrols, you might be able to take the melee bonus for one group, the ranged for another and so one without sacrificing synergy.

yeah, it's more the matter of unless they have an exception built into the matched play rules, there is a three detachment limit at 2,000 points.
