Speed freaks means a 16" move, average 4" advance and average 8" charge...all on turn one. Best be ready for a lot of 1st round combat. not a lot of board space to hide in with a 28" average range. With the advance and no penalty to shooting there is going to be a TON of pressure from this army turn 1. Orks might be able to go back to a bike based list, assuming the point drop rumor is true; rumor being a drop from 27 to 21-23 pts based on the power level army they released.
-1 to hit if more than 12" away...(Ork Nods head, lowers goggles and hits the gas).... 6" away, DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA!!!!

alot of bikes moving that far and able to clear screens with all that shooting is going to be pretty cool I'm happy that speed is back in it for Orks. Right now no one can take bikes cause you can't afford to bring a T5 model with W 2 4+ for 27 pts when you can bring 4.5 T4 models for the same price. An outrider of Speed freaks looks like a great way to get all the goodies and still have something like bad moons or the Deathskulls (if the always in Cover AND fall back and charge is true) to back you up.

Deathskulls are going to make Mek guns, unstoppable killing machines. Each gun will get a re-roll hit, wound and damage roll. So for 27 pts you get a 4+ re-roll to hit, s8 re-roll to wound AP-2 D d6 re-rollable weapon. That is gonna be some very solid shooting!
Plus those grot crew will get Obsec for being an infantry model...
So for 550 pts you get yourself 18x S8 AP-2 D d6 shots that all re-roll hit, wound, damage, plus a KFF big mek to baby sit. with a total of 54 W at T5, 5++. not the worst way to spend points. Tho that is 36 kill points to plop on a table :S

Its the artillery rule. You buy them as a unit then when the game starts each model becomes its own unit. So no issue with rule of 3 since you are actually bring 3x6 kannons which then split in 18x1 kannon. I still really dislike the artillery rules for 8th but i guess this is one upside, kinda....

Orks were tabled turn 3 by 4 knights on GWs twitch. It was suppose to show off how powerful the orks and notablely the stompa was...sounds like its the laughing stock of releases.

ya looks like they took big things they were hyped about.
i think the power of the orks will be what you said the deathskulls. lootaz, tank bustas , just an all infantry list.
tonnes of fire power and hard to kill, also all obsec.

to be fair... they were facing the toughest matchup they could face (despite the adjustments of strategems knights are flat busted and many people don't even want to play them at this point).
Also GW has been harshly criticized in their past battle reps when a new army is released by ALWAYS having the new army win no matter what.
Can the new orks beat knights? well probably about the same as any army can beat a properly built knight army these days... about 40% of the time. (with of course the most optimal situation being every army is 50/50 and thus balanced against one another). My question is can they beat other common lists (eldar of various stripes... marines... nids...crons...etc.)
didn't see the stream but tabling by knights turn three happens to my nids crons and daemons regularly... and I don't give up on those armies. (most times I buy more of them...lol).
Don't let one bad game colour your view of the army. Seems like a dumb idea for GW to promote their new expensive kits though... but when you livestream you're kinda stuck with what actually happens during the game.
Gives me hope for December they'll actually address the knight problem.

Still pumped for orks, but having things like boys go UP in points from 6 to 7 and then the stompa drop a whole 81 points, does kinda feel bad. The stratigems and other stuff is looking sweet tho. looks like orks will finally be able to make good use of boyz and toys not just mass boyz and obviously all tpys doesnt get you very far.
