yeah super weird that the HQ's lost the ability to go on bikes... especially since they're rolling out Speed Freeks as one of the "new shiny" ways to play.

Death Guard lost lords on bikes, bikers, obits, vindicators, etc. Etc.
Is not uncommon to see GW remove options from the index to the codex nowadays.

Orks have a new unit to allow an all vehicle army. ... You just have to buy this new unit. www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/Orks-Deffkilla-Wartrike-2018GW needs to make money some how.

The freebooters trait seems too situational.
If it activated then it will be great but vs hard to kill elite things it will be harder.
Evil suns seems great for a fast speed freaks army
And I'm liking the death skulls i think it is if I was making an army.

I think the idea of the freebootas is to pop your strats right at the start and buff one one unit in the middle of the board, pick a low hanging fruit which with 30 S5 AP-1 D2 shots hitting on 4s isnt too hard unless its vs knights. then your 24" +1 buff goes off so everything else is now MUCH better. It seems cool. since 2+ hitting boyz and such is kinda awesome!

With screens being so popular, all it takes is to kill 10 guardsmen/cultists or whatnot, and then you have a giant aura of orks who can hit things. And there's nothing more terrifying than an accurate Ork shooting phase.

oh i agree, if it goes off it will be amazing. and it is versatile as it could be a range or shooty army.
all this is speculation until we start throwing them against the wall and see which boyz stick lol.
i just think the deathskulls having defensive, offensive and a tactical bonus in their trait is huge.

I'm not so sure amore it being situational. Freebooterz traktor kannons smash a flyer to the ground then buff the entire backfield shooting.
It's not as easy to employ as other kulturs, but once you've gotten one unit down, you can use your now really accurate scoring to start softening up targets for further rounds to ensure that you've got a low hanging fruit to put a bullet into and start the buff train all over again.

So far things are looking good. I have a number of Orks with blue on them and seems to be working out in print. Anybody seen anything on bikes other than the new trike?

Bike are down from 27 pts to 23 pt a model according to battle report, so thats ok, thought they were be closer to 21 pts.
Also they are speed freeks so they get the +2" move from evil suns and can benifit from the -1 to hit stratigem, however it can only be played in your move phase so if you go 2nd they could be dead by then.
Bike again are in a weird place, of you need a big unit to make it work but its hard to justify a big unit even at 23 pts, since its still not hard to kill 5T 4+ save 2W.

KFF can also 5++ invul with the turn 1 strat that is once per game but the KFF is range 18" not 9. makes it super easy to cover off your deployment zone, pain boyz can give the bikes the 6+++ as well. I definitely think bikes will see play now, but not sure how amazing they will be when you can just got back to 40 boyz instead of 12 bikes. Maybe in a pure speed freek army of all bike, buggies etc just so that your whole army will be on them turn 1 so it doesn't matter if you loss a whole unit or 2 turn 1.
