TTT has their preview bat rep up. (Warning, it's 3 hours) www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2a4NylSnpwEvil Sunz is going to be popular. It's Basically Ork Eldar. And they haven't even added the new buggies into this list yet which are completely gross for Evil Sunz Edit: Oh my... Evil Sunz are fast, and MURDER screening units (with ability to charge into meatier stuff after)... Oh my...

I mean Orks got some huge buffs and are gonna be hella strong even with boyz going up to 7 pts and the stompa being bad and things. Just wish they could have gotten it 99% right rather than a solid 80%. Always sucks having to go into a new codex with a pen and update points and rules less than 2 months after buys it.

Looks like Trakor cannons will be the MVP:
45 pts get you a Heavy 1 - 48" S8 ap-2 D d6 or 2d6 take the highest vs fly. Anything with Flyer or fly keyword automatically crashes and burns or explodes if the trakor takes its last wound.
Now Heavy 1 seems pretty meh..until you learn that the weapon auto hits!! Say good by to any Xeno flyer turn 1 for the low cost of 225 pts for 5x of these.

Yeah, the only drawback is the unit splits up at deployment, so if you take the max of 6 of these for a unit, it's 12 KP (Gun + Grots)

Yeah, the only drawback is the unit splits up at deployment, so if you take the max of 6 of these for a unit, it's 12 KP (Gun + Grots) The new Ork Artillery unit rules actually only make it 6 KP. The grot Crew are gone in the codex. The 6 grot crew are just wound counters for the gun. so the grot crew and are one unit that uses all the states of the gun. I have a feeling you will see all the stupid artillery rules go this way with chapter approved. Can be seen as a BUFF AND NERF. Buff - way less KP if you go this route Nerf - no 5 man untargettable grot units running around grabbing objectives To each either own. Or you can mix index and codex for best of both worlds.

As per Artillery it is bought as a single unit and deployed as a single drop. As of the start of the game each gun is then its own unit for all intent and purpose. Which isn't all bad since it means that single big fire power weapons will just super overkill a single gun. SO if you wanted to get crazy you could have 18 of these for 810 pts...which could work when you think of big flyers like a Vault or Riptide. That is a cray amount of damage you could be putting out. As depending on how the rules work it might also give the deathskull artillery the ability to EACH re-roll a to hit, wound and damage roll. Which would make this gun super bonkers, being s8 re-roll to wound and d6 re-rollable damage.

its a shame that a tractor beam costs $55. GW shelves must be overflowing with them. As as you said it would cripple any Xenos list as half their units have fly. Do they still have 5 Grot crew?

To each either own. Or you can mix index and codex for best of both worlds. I actually get the feeling that pretty soon we're going start seeing index choices disallowed at major tournaments for any army with a codex. Supposedly ETC has already adopted that policy and I wouldn't think the ITC will be far behind once GSC and Sisters have their dexes in the coming weeks. Back to the actual point of this thread, most of the early indicators I'm seeing are saying Orks are looking really solid. If some of the rumored changes in Chapter Approved are true, I would not be surprised to see Orks at top tables at the LVO in Feb. The meta has shifted very much to countering Knights atm, making the prospects of something like 90+ or 120+ boyz a huge problem for many armies. They are going to be very solid at board control and objective based missions with their aggression and weight of dice.

I did hear that ETC has ban index if you have your codex. we will see what happens. Also I do think orks are going to be in a very good spot. Just its one of those hallow promisses from the codex. This will be meta breaking for the orks yet most lists are gonna have 90-120 boyz and a bunch of big mek guns and maybe a unit of tankbusta....that is is literally the only stuff orks are taking now. So nothing will change that much.

re: index above... if you're going to a tournament here (or elsewhere) and you have a codex with entries in it for a unit that is the legal rules for the unit.
grot artillery is in the new ork book... you can't just choose to use the index version of the unit as the unit has been updated. Same as I can't use the 50 point cheaper version of the malanthrope because I like the older version better!

Same as I can't use the 50 point cheaper version of the malanthrope because I like the older version better! So the Codex has the Mek Gunz but its more the other units that didn't care over which is crazy, Ork lost: Warboss on Bike Pain boy on Bike Big Mek on Bike Big Mek with KFF Big Gunz ( Kannon, Zapps, Lobba) Wartrakks Skorchas Warbuggies The Buggies make sense since they all got new and better buggies, the bike HQ's kinda make sense since they don't have model, except in FW (even tho Nobz on bikes stuck around without models.) The KFF Big Mek and Big Gunz seem weird as they currently have and sell models of them to the best of my knowledge, tho maybe the line is at an end. I'm expecting to see a lot of Index Bike HQs and Big meks. IF or WHEN index becomes invalid a bunch of players will just switch to big mek Buzzgob and Zhandsnark da Rippa from FW. the only real hurt will be the loss of the big Painboy since he can cover like 4-5 units with easy due to base size.
