Lets see: Imperial Fist detachment: spend one CP -> Captains, Centurions, Dreadnoughts and Vindicators in that detachment gain the siegebreaker cohort keyword.
You can do two new stratagems for said keyword units: (1 CP) A debuff when you destroy a building with enemy troops inside. They have to roll 2d6 instead of 1 for each model but the controlling player still picks which dies.
Not something that going to come up a lot outside of narrative play to me. I mean when do people bring bunker-style fortifications to games?
(1CP) before attack in shooting/fight phase for a siegebreaker cohort unit. Each time you roll a wound roll of 6+ that targets a vehicle or building in that phase, you deal a mortal wound in addition to normal damage.
This is kind of nasty particular for units with lots of attacks.
New Warlord trait (character must be siegebreaker cohort) auto pass morale and IF infantry within 6' gain the benefit of cover even when you are not wholly on or within a terrain feature.
.......The IF marines just all became terminators.
And finally, new relic: reroll wound rolls of 1 for shooting made by SC units within 6' of the bearer.

For the second stratagems, the mortal wounds only trigger on a wound roll of 6+, so not nearly that devastating.

Thankfully it only effects vindicators, Centurions, Dreads and Captains, non of which are high output shooters. Maybe a leviathan, but that's still an average of 3 mortal wounds from a double storm cannon.

Whether or not these particular abilities are useful in normal play, it does serve to show the sorts of things that the new special detachments might bring to the table.
I've never played 7th but from what little I've heard this sort of stuff isn't nearly as OP as some of the formations in that edition.
Though the Warlord trait really makes IF marine squads (particulary Primarius) tough nuts to crack. I mean 2+ armor on infantry renders a lot of your standard crowd-killers useless. I mean for me, Tesla is normally a viable option against MEQs provided I can ensure a lot of hits to gnaw through the 3+. But at 2+ it's gauss or go home.

oh yah, this is nothing compared to some of the stuff from 7th. Having to pay to get benefits that you still need to pay for afterwards? All good in my books.

This actually seems pretty darn reasonable. A tangible benefit worth a few CP to use but nothing gamebreaking as the old formations...
colour me cautiously optimistic

And from what I understand of the IF's existing tricks, strats etc, it even meshes with their overall theme.
Should be interesting to see what the other factions get.

I should just clear things up by mentioning that I have a personal vendetta against monopoly because everyone plays it wrong and the game takes forever as a result of 2-3 rules that everyone misplays. (hence it becoming the 'friendship annihilator' of games.

(hence it becoming the 'friendship annihilator' of games. ahh, can't really argue with that. My wife loves the game, i know we play it wrong but she insists on playing it a certain way. And it does take forever. lol (we dont play often) She has many variations of monopoly, but she didnt want this one for some reason lol.
