Last year I stumbled across a motivational method called Hobby Streak - you can find a good Youtube video by Dana Howl on the concept. Basically, instead of setting a goal to paint a certain number of models you set the intention to devote 30 minutes each day towards your hobby. This can be assembling, painting, terrain etc. You try to have as long a streak as possible. Seemed gimmicky, but it worked for me last year.
I am going to go by week here, and all are welcome to add their own streaks to this thread.
Week 1 (1 to 7 Jan 22) in 30 min increments:
1 Jan - Painted the blue armour on my Dracothian Guard with a wash to finish 2 Jan - Painted the bases on my Dracothian Guard, cleaned up the Draconiths and the riders 3 Jan - Painted the armour on 24 Warhammer Fantasy Dwarves from my pile of shame dating back to Dec 2001 4 Jan - Applied wash to the Dwarves armour, tidied up 5 Jan - Painted the skin, belts and weapon hafts on the Dwarves 6 Jan - Painted the beards a variety of colours (had to buy some new paints because Duncan) 7 Jan - Painted the (square) bases on the Dwarves - They are complete!
Painting 24 Dwarves in one batch is a challenge, but it keeps you in the mode.

I built my hobby tracker this week and today de-focused my time breakdown "hobby". My goal was to spend a minimum of 30 minutes a day (3.5 hrs / week) for the coming year. This morning I was focusing only on my painting time. When I worked on the tracker, I didn't spend 3.5 hours on painting. But when I expanded to time spent on hobby, I was only 15 minutes short for the week. Ultimately I intend to make it 30 / day painting but overall I didn't have as low a productivity week as I thought. So next week, more painting and the same for more of "other". Hobby Streak sounds good to me!!

I've been trying something similar. I've done hobby stuff 3 days in a row so far. I know it's not much, but I'm glad to be doing something.

Day 8 - Painted the base colours and wash for the Kruelboy that came with the 3rd Ed magazine Day 9 - Cleaned-up and highlighted the Kruekboy. Painting a single mini was quite a change from a batch of 24! Day 10 - Base Colours and Wash for Gardus, two Liberators, a Vindicator and the Shadespire Stormcast Eternals Day 11 - Additional colours for SCEs (scabbards, tabbards etc) plus highlight, prepped bases (went over 30 mins)

Given how things go in my life I have zero chance of painting 30 minutes every day. However, if I take my goals as weekly I have a much better chance of hitting them. This week I wanted to hit 210 minutes (7 x 30) just for painting. I was able to get over the line with 225 minutes for the week plus an additional 90 minutes for research in to materials and techniques.
So far I am making good progress on a Judiciar and 5 man Intercessor squad. My primiaris DAs will be based as a winter army to further distinguish them from my Classic Marines of the 5th Company who are on desert bases. My plan is to take my "regular" units and paint them to a higher standard than I did with my classics. I will never be a fast painter but I plan to become a better painter.
Onward to next week!

Day 12 - Applied Aggrellan Earth to the bases of three models, while basecoating and washing the others' modelled bases Day 13 - Highlights on bases, cleaned up bases from Agrrellan Earth spills Day 14 - Highlights on Gold, Red, Blue and Steel Day 15 - Flame effect and hair for the Stormsire fellow and Gardus
That was a protracted paint...Five different types of Stormcasts made for a weird batch-paint, but then again I wasn't going for tight efficiency.
Gonna start building some Necron Immortals for this week's work.

As I lick my wounds from the Buffalo Bills' overtime loss, here is my hobbystreak update:
Day 16: Changed gears - base colours on three Dwarf cannon crew from 2001 and a Runelord Day 17: Cleaned up the Dwarves (Dwarfs?) and added a wash to some parts Day 18: Worked on the Runelord Day 19: Assembled three Necron Immortals (watching TV with my wife - I can assemble and watch TV) Day 20: Finished the Necron Immortals assembly Day 21: Painted the beards (and fixed mistakes) Day 22: Highlights on the Dwarves Day 23: Bases on the Dwarves - a slow week, but cleared out a box of shame from Dec 2001!
This week I intend to work on the Immortals while I await an order at Nexus.

This week was more about the fine details. Lots of tiny brush work. Got most of the decals / transfers mounted. Lost two days (and one from this current week) to a family visit but still managed to break 210 for the week. This week will be about finishing and matting the decals and sculpting the bases.
Trying out a new product that I hope will act as a good base material for snow, as well as tumbled glass pieces that have very little "sparkle" and look much more like "wild" ice. May include some Woodland Scenics product that should help me form icicles and ice on figures as well as bases. Eventually I want to move on to adding water and winter effects to my Knights army as well but that is down the road.
Time to get back to the work bench!

I now have a completed Judiciar and a 5 man Intercessor squad to escort him. This took a ridiculously long time (29 days) but after 2 years away from painting I had a lot of rust to get out of my system. There were a number ot things I wanted to practice and some new things to try out. That all takes time. Plus I wanted to turn out a better product than I have before.
A few things: 1) I probably shouldn't have included a character for my first run. That ate up a lot more time than I expected. 2) Keeping logs of both my time and what I used on each unit really did help. I can re-create exactly what I did which will speed up the basic squads. And I'm up to a consistent 45 minutes a day painting. 3) New product: tumbled glass. I went for subtle on my first use and am happy with the result. The pieces I selected do emulate "wild" ice as I hoped. My wife, who has painted for decades, agrees. If you want a box of this, check out Kingston Glass Studio & Gallery on lower Queen Street. The boxes are packed full of a variety of shapes, colours, and sizes from the hot room. I think they run about $15 these days. 4) New product: Testor's Craft Dimensional Craft Paste. Similar to Woodland Scenics Flex Paste. 6 oz. bottle for $13 @ Michael's (but wait to grab one of their 30 - 40% off coupons). Think of this as slightly thicker and stickier Dream Whip. Can be easily worked on a small base. Builds up nicely if you need to. I would leave it about 8 hours to dry (which can suck). If you don't need a lot, this would be the bottle for you.
Now that I have that out of the way (and a better sense of where I am taking this army and how to get there), time to finish the other 5 guys in the squad. Going to pass on the character this time. And clean up the work bench before I start.

I enjoyed painting the Judiciar, but it did take some time!
Day 24: Laid down the undercoat (airbrush) and Agrellan Earth effects - also undercoated a Dwarf head Day 25: Airbrushed Zandri Dust (two thin coats) and finished with Agrax Earthshade. Also sprayed a 1:72 scale Grant tank. Day 26: Drybrushed Zandri Dust and Ushabti Bone (using a makeup brush) Day 27: Painted the various layers of Blue on weapon components Day 28: Cleaned up mistakes, painted the bases, also painted the lone Dwarf head to replace one lost in the warp Day 29: Assembled 5 x Deathwing Knights
A pleasant week. I enjoy painting sandstone Necrons. It is relaxing! Painting Deathwing Knights is a bit tougher (mistakes are less forgiving), but you can never have enough Deathwing.

I agree with you on the Knights. And I have almost an entire company of Deathwing.

This week went well. Almost doubled my target by coming in just under an hour a day. And as proof that I don't listen even to myself very well, I included a character in addition to the balance of my intercessor squad. I needed something to fill that "waiting to dry" time for the squad. All six are just about done, needing a few decals, flocking, and maybe a touch of weathering powder. (Less than an hour's work.) And the standard matches the first batch.
One item I have found very useful is my rechargeable orb light. Like most hobbyists, you never have your workbench in the best light your home has to offer. This light has a strong magnetic base and the orb can easily swivel across a huge range of angles. I attach mine to a metal bookcase beside me. I plan to get a second one and add small cheap metal plates to the joist above my workbench and the re-purposed entertainment centre on the other side so I can optimize my lighting. This light is available at Lee Valley (https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/home/lighting/specialty-lights/110958-rechargeable-heavy-duty-magnetic-led-orb-light?item=25K4115), $29.99.
And one of these days I should probably figure out how to upload to imgur. Maybe this week.

Day 30: Undercoated and then basecoated Deathwing Knights Day 31: Recess wash of Deathwing Knights with Seraphim Sepia Day 32: Caliban Green on Deathwing Knights// Then spent 30 minutes helping my teenage daughter paint a Lord of the Rings dice book/box for her boyfried (they play D&D) Day 33: Mechanicus Standard Grey on Deathwing Knights Day 34: Changed Gears - Mephiston Red on unfinished Incursors Day 35: Boltgun Metal and Blue on Incursors Day 36: Changed Gears - Assembled Lokhust Heavy Destroyer (cuz bought one a Nexus that day for...reasons?) Day 37: Celestra Grey on Deathwing Knights, undercoated the Lokhust Heavy Destroyer and applied Aggrellan Earth
I was all over the place this week. To be honest, I am putting off the fine detail work on the Deathwing Knights, although the Incursors do need done for Club Champs. Hobbying with my daughter was fun. She took one of those boxes that look like a book and turned it into a dice box with a Lord of the Rings cover and inner cover plus felt. Really cool.
This week I will put the finishing touches on the Incurors and Deathwing Knights. I promise.

Every so often you just have to veer off and do something different. I find it helps keep things fresh and avoids me feeling like I've been working on one thing / army for too long. Less boredom / frustration, more enjoyment.
