True, and I did have a good time.

Day 63: hosted nine for Boxing Day dinner// snuck in assembly of the Gryph Hounds to keep the streak alive Day 64: Focused build of 30K Spartan. This was a fairly straight-forward if large build that took about four hours
Today I have undercoated the Spartan, Gryph Hounds and Vindictors. I plan to basecoat the Spartan with the rest of the day
Having a hobby setup in my basement is very helpful. I can just lay on a coat of paint or assemble an infantry figure without setup and tear down. I was able to build the hounds one by one with trips to the freezer/pantry... Sneaky sneaky.

A method I have often used myself.

Day 65: Basecoats and highlighting of the Spartan Day 66: Finished the painting/washes of the Spartan - also got a game in with it where it died on Turn 1 Day 67: Basecoats and initial washes on the five Vindictors
I have one day to complete the Vindictors and then the Gryph Chargers to paint just over 10,000 of models this year....

Day 68: Finished the Vindictors and then the Gryph Hounds (not Gryph Chargers). Started early in the morning.
This last hobby streak was very satisfying, combined with a good number of games using many of the models that I painted.
So how did the year go? Time to tally up the damage...

So as I sip champagne and reflect on the year here are my reflections on this year's hobby.
Longest Streak - 84 days (pretty cool, although there were some evenings spent hobbyless in hotel rooms)
Favourite Model - Lord Arcanum on Gryph Charger. I painted this over two days after a tournament. Followed Duncan step by step and was really happy with the result
Best Bang for the Buck - Stormdrake Guard and Knight Draconis. These models were fun builds and paints, and they have seen great service on the tabletop
Best Stretch - Converting a Lord Relictor into a Lord Castellant. Nothing crazy, but a departure for me.
Least Favourite - Chaos Marauders. I really enjoyed assembling them but the painting crushed me. No idea why, but I started without a plan. At least they were wiped out in their only game on the tabletop. That will teach them.
Guilty Pleasure - Opening 3rd Edition Stormtroopers and painting them. Now to get the courage to paint my 2nd Ed Squat Hearthguard...
Totals:
Dark Angels - 880 points Astra Militarum - 135 points Necrons - 195 points Flesh Tearers - 890 points (more than my Dark Angels - how scandalous!) Stormcast Eternals - 4920 points. Yes - I like my Stormcast Eternals Slaves to Darkness - 1135 points. Chaos Lord on Karkadrak is my honourable mention for favourite model. Dwarves (Cities of Sigmar) - 340 points Blades of Khorne - 460 points (these lads did great work at Secret Santa)
Bolt Action Germans - 145 points Bolt Action Italians - 209 points (these lads won me Best Axis - Avanti!!!) Bolt Action Canadians - 787 (an oddly specific number, but I double checked)
Grand Total - 10,186 points of Battle Ready models. Phew! Not included are some 1:285 scale tanks I painted for teaching at work and various pieces of terrain, plus some oil paint work on canvas for my Dark Angels. Not ready to open a gallery, but I've been channeling Bob Ross for a couple of years now.
For me, the hobby streak method works. It was fun having this thread as a place to share our progress, as well as keeping me honest. Keep on keeping on and share your results!

I would say the streak method has worked for me as well. I feel as if I've been more productive and involved since adopting it, though I do include aspects of the hobby beyond building and painting. Maybe this year I will keep track of the points too.
So today is Day 1 again. I've added a contrast coat over the base spray coat on 5 assault intercessors as well as an Abaddon Black coat over the base spray coat on an assassin. Not a big start but a start. Most days I hope to fall somewhere between the "helpful husband" going to the basement and tacking on a few minutes for a little building / painting and two hour sessions. And working out how to get something done when I'm away. A small build kit with some basic minis that fits in my luggage sounds like a good idea to me.
However I get it done, whatever I get done, I expect it to be fun. Happy New Year and happy hobby streaking all!!
