This week was a surprise. Remember that 3 man Outrider unit? Well, turns out I was the hiccup. Mid-week I completely lost interest in it. Don't know why. But as I still wanted to accomplish something (because shuttle season starts this coming weekend) I knocked out a greenwing dread. And I have started puttering at the Outriders again. Not sure what will emerge by the end of this week (which for me is Thursday as it's Easter weekend) but it's bound to be another surprise for me.
Next week I intend to get a spare set of figures, tools, and paints in place at the other location so I can get some work done there as well. To those who observe it, happy Easter! For those who don't, have a great long weekend!

The past 2 weeks have been a real jolt to my streak. I've managed all of 60-90 minutes over 2 weeks. Still working on both the Assault Primaris and the Outriders. When I took a good look at the riders the problem turned out to be that I hadn't made them Ravenwing-y enough for my taste. That has been corrected. So hopefully life and my adjustments will let me get back up to speed this week. If I can get the other painting gear in place at the other location this week I should be able to start producing finished pointy-earred bozos as well. (Or their walking dead buddies.)

A quirky week without a real plan!
Day 63: Magnetized a bunch of AOS Chaos guys Day 64: Got a great game of AOS in; cleaned up some more old Catachans Day 65: Pulled metal Catachan Captain and Lieutenant out of a mix of LA's Totally Awesome; cleaned up other old Catachans Day 66: Airbrushed primer on metal characters// then got them to tabletop standard in an evening of work Day 67: Got a game of 40K in; pulled 20 x AOS Chaos Warriors off their square bases and prepped round ones Day 68: Finished off the new bases for the Chaos Warriors and undercoated some Bloodletters
No real progress this week, in that everything I worked on was an old project that had been languishing. Happy with the results, though, as my old Catachans were a bit janky. I had bought a bunch of Catachans in 1999, and I primed them black in winter. Something went wrong with the rattle can, perhaps due to the cold, and the resulting paint job was aweful. Stipping them down and repainting them is fixing a 23 year old error!
Rebasing is a pain, but I feel better about having my Chaos Warriors on the right bases now that they are seeing tabletop.
Will paint the Bloodletters and a Chaos Lord this week for AOS.

I finally broke out of my horrible rut caused by my severe depression long enough to put some models together last night. I just finished priming them a bit earlier. Hopefully I can paint tomorrow.

Figured I'd post an update. I was able to assemble and prime a few more models. I'm working on a Start Collecting box, and have assembled and primed most of it. I decided that before I move onto the big stuff in nit, I would paint the 13 models I have currently ready. And so, I have started the painting process. I currently have a base coat, wash, and dry brush over them. Will start to work on details tomorrow. I'm glad I was able to break through my depression and start working on stuff again. There is no doubt in my mind that my depression will return at some point and prevent me from doing anything, so I'll take advantage of what I can do for now.

Any of us with chronic and/or cyclic medical conditions can empathize. I've certainly had times where the pain or my breathing were so bad that even sitting in a chair to build or paint was impossible. You just hold on to doing what you can when you are in a low spot and do/enjoy as much as you can when you are in a good spot. Congratulations on the work so far and best of luck staying in a good space for as long as you can.

As someone with bipolar disorder I understand. Sometimes I get so down and in my own head I can't do the things I enjoy like painting and building models. Usually trying to force myself to paint something cool (character, big monster or vehicle) is a big help for me. Like question said good job overcoming. Hopefully you stay in a good head space!

Hobby can bring us relaxation and escape, but it can also generate anxiety. Sometimes it can be good to step away. I find a daily hobby a good way to keep building/painting instead of watching a video, but if I am not feeling it that day I am not feeling it!

So the outriders are done at last. Assault primaris I will set aside for a bit. I bought an old (original retail tag says it went on the original retailer's shelf in 2005) kit from Nexus so my next up will be a vinyl model of Norrin Radd, the Silver Surfer. I've never worked on a vinyl kit. The parts appear to be intact with no evidence of cracking so I'm taking that as a good sign. Anybody have any experience working with vinyl?

I was on a roll for a while, then some major things came up in my life, and now I can't do hobby stuff for a while. Doesn't help my depression either.
In a few months I should hopefully be able to do this again.

Day 69: Undercoated Bloodletters Day 70: Basecoated Bloodletters and wash Day 71: Highlights, horns and blades Day 72: Gold details, tongues Day 73: Bases with grit Day 74: Painted bases Day 75: Rebased 10 other bloodletters (shakes fist at AOS rebasing) Day 76: Grit on those bases Day 77: Painted bases Day 78: Painted up some Lightning Claws for five Relic Terminators
And then the Hobby Streak ended. I will take a few days to recharge and plan my next project. Eyeing a few big projects to mix things up!
This streak saw a lot of old models rebased and also refreshed my Astra Militarum army. Happy with the results!
