Had a work trip this week, but still got some good hobby in:
Day 33: Base colours on Knight Judicator and his Gryph Hounds Day 34: Painted bases on 10 x Vindictors - cleaned up mistakes and calling them done! Day 35: Assembled 10 x Bersaglieri for Bolt Action. Forgot how much I hate working with metal models now! Day 36: Details on Knight Judicator and Gryph Hounds plus washes
Priority this week is getting the Italian squad table-top ready for the tourney on Satuday. Then I will finish the Knight Judicator. Or the other way around!

Getting to work on my HH DA army. Built my first piece, one of the Praetors. A little slow going but done nevertheless. Nice to see something taking shape on my work bench again. Started on the other Praetor tonight. Seems to me I have a 2nd hand FW piece laying around that needs sponsons and weapons. The search begins tomorrow!

A busy hobby week with a Sigmar game and a Bolt Action tourney. Changed gears several times this week.
Day 37: Undercoated and basecoated the Italian Bersaglieri/ bases on Knight Day 38: Cleaned up Knight Judicator and Gryph-Hounds plus application of Agrellan Earth on bases Day 39: Boots, webbing and putteess on Bersaglieri - this was fun with some blending// Also got a Sigmar game in! Day 40: Rifles, skin and helmets on Bersaglieri// Washes Day 41: Cleanup Beraglieri and painted helmet insignia Day 42: Bolt Action Tourney, won Canadian Infantry box as prize - assembled a squad Day 43: Assembled another squad plus 2" mortar, Piat, Lieutenant and Forward Observer Officer
The new Warlord Bolt Action kits are fantastic value. For about $60 you get the core of an army with plenty of options. This box comes in at about 600 points and our tourney was at 1000 points. The instructions are, well, more or less absent but there is a good parts guide.
I will be on the road this week but my aim is to at least undercoat and basecoat the Canadian infantry. This will be the start of a batch paint of 30 models all in one batch. I did this last year with Bolt Action German Grenadiers and while each stage is a bit of a slog I think it works.

A good hobby week, even though a trip to Toronto interrupted it.
Day 44: Assembled last of Canadian infantry//Glued base grit etc Day 45: Airbrush undercoat of Vallejo Russian Uniform/ Airbrush basecoat of Vallejo Brown Violet Day 46: Painted webbing etc with Grey Green (30 figures in one go took some time and a few breaks) Day 47: Painted scrim and rifles with Vallejo Flat Brown/ Painted skin with Bugman's Glow and Cadian Fleshtone Day 48: Agrax Earthshade on all but the skin//Reikland Fleshshade on skin Day 49: Wash on bases// highlight with German Camo Beige Brown mixed with Brown Violet
I enjoy a historical project. There is always a bit of research and choosing between conflicting advice on colours. I find this deepens my understanding of the army in question. The platoon looks rather drab, but that is the point. They are fighting in Normandy in 1944 and are not looking to attract attention! I have placed a few decals, but to be honest the juice does not seem to be worth the squeeze with those! The platoon is more or less tabletop ready!
I assembled an Bolt Action Italian AB 41 scout car on Thursday. It is a resin model so it was mostly gluing on the wheels and cannon. I undercoated it with my airbrush and it will be the focus this week unless something else grabs my fancy.

And two weeks later I have a 2nd Praetor built and that unfinished FW Spartan and parts located. Slow as molasses in February but at least something happened. Any bets on how long my first tactical squad of 10 will take?

Interesting week where I missed two days: Wed was Sunset Ceremony at the Fort where I had two marching and yesterday was FanExpo in Toronto. Focused on terrain this week.
Day 50: Highlights on Canadian Infantry bases and added some Vallejo grass Day 51: Built some hedges//messed up by using an outdoor wood stain but learned some lessons along the way Day 52: Built some new hedges Day 53: Undercoated (airbrush) and then basecoated/layered the hedges Day 54: Built a bunch of new hedges and salvaged the ones I thought I had ruined with the oil-based stain
Working on terrain was a nice palette-cleanser and also a bit of an ego-check by making some mistakes!

Just finished my first tactical squad. I quite enjoy the lack of mould lines and flash as the casting tech improves. Unfortunately the degree of detail we now enjoy can make it more time consuming to assemble (multi-part shoulder pads). Not to mention I now need a break from tactical marines. Trying to decide whether to go cataphracti or contemptor next. And maybe have them done in less than 9 days.

Since my mom passed away, I haven't really been able to muster the energy, passion, interest, or desire to do anything. However, over the past few days I have been getting my interest back. I'll try to do some stuff Monday. Likely can't do much over the weekend due to work, so Monday is my best bet.

Even if you just get parts off the sprue to assemble later or put a base coat on an assembled mini you have a start. Good luck with it!

Some evening engagements this week, but made sure to hobby on the free days. Did a mix of terrain and tanks, plus a game!
Day 55: Under-sprayed the hedges, painted brown and green on hedges Day 56: Built some more hedges (making a Normandy board for my basement) Day 57: Basecoated my Italian AB-41 with airbrush in Zandri Dust, then pin-wash with Agrax Earthshade - so many rivets! Day 58: Airbrush highlight with Ushabti Bone on AB-41//painted stowage tools - also had a great 40K game! Day 59: Painted tires with Corax Black, washed with Nuln and highlighted with Stormvermin Fur//applied decals - Job's done!
I am going on a business trip, so the coming week will be rather thin in terms of hobby. Hoping to assemble a Bolt Action Sherman tomorrow.

Five days later and I have 5 cataphractii built. Also acquired a pair of armiger helverins and my Warhammer+ assassin arrived this week. As I expected it makes a nice display piece but not very practical for game play. Shouldn't be hard to modify it so I have a removable assassin for games. I really should get that next set of HH tacticals done.

So far have resisted the assassin build. I did complete 5 assault intercessors to a decent standard. Also, thanks to HH, I dug out 3 thudd guns (yeah, I know, they are now called "quad launchers". Again, OLD.) that I had squirreled away and have assembled one just for the change. May build and stick all three in a battery for the tournament, but still undecided on that. Not game winners but novel. And the scatter can have entertaining consequences.

Work trip disrupted daily hobby, but such is life! The following two weeks also had the Teams Tourney and I seemed to change gears alot...
Day 60: Started assembly on Bolt Action Sherman Day 61: Finished assembly on Sherman and airbrush undercoat Day 62: Airbrush Brown Violet on Sherman, pinwash Day 63: Assembly of Stormcast Eternals Vanguard Raptors with Longstrike Crossbows Day 64: Airbrush undercoat of SCE and basecoat with Retributor Armour Day 65: Kantor Blue on SCE Day 66: Stripped 16 2nd and 3rd Imperial Guard Stormtroopers Day 67: Airbrush undercoat on Stormtroopers, Airbrush Fang for basecoat Day 68: Zhandri Dust, Incubi Darkness and Mournfang Brown//Washes Day 69: Red and Leadbelcher Day 70: Bases and final washes/cleanup
Productive if scattered work these past two weeks. Very happy to tackle the old Stormtroopers - lots of nostalgia. Those 3rd Ed Stormtroopers are, to me, some of the best sculpts that GW has made.
Need to finish the Sherman and Raptors...Another work trip this week will get in the way.
See you on the table!

Finished assembling the 2nd thudd gun. Guess I AM building a battery. Spent the weekend going over the HH rules more thoroughly. Will have to find some practice games before the tourney. But it wouldn't be the first time I played my first game at a tourney either.
