Leeman Russ is very ww1 British w mid ww2 German elements (like the turret) Rogal Dorn seems to be based on British interwar/Early war infantry tanks like the Matilda/Valentine, but with late war/early cold war American as the turret design inspiration.

Now that's what a tank should look like. It's clearly an upgrade, but it's still at home in the army. Big fan. I'm really glad they have kept the guard's aesthetic and tech level with these updated kits. No primaris treatment for the real heroes of the imperium. That said, and this may be a bit controversial, but they have now named battle tanks after my two least favourite primarchs. Though I'm not actually sure if the russ was named before or after they nailed down the primarch story. Either way, bit of a downer, but you know what? That's still miles better than all the forgettable, vague descriptors they chose for the entire new space marine line. Iirc the leeman russ was originally named after the famous imperial General leeman rus, who later was a primarch when all the narrative dust settled I still miss being able to take a leeman russ w my space wolves

I'm curious to see if it's gun lives up to one shoting a knight The Oppressor Cannon (aka the big gun) is apparently Heavy d6+3 90' S10 AP-3 D4 It's a better doomsday cannon from the Necron Arks (d6 shots 72' S10 AP-5 1d6 damage)
So yes, roll well along with your opponent roiling poorly and that Knight is going boom.

Flat 4 Damage is a nice place to be. For the shooter that is.
I was playing six Leman Russ the other day and I think I like where the developers have gone with the Battle Cannons. They have been in a tough place since 8th. Grinding Advance was an awkward patch. The leaked rules look much cleaner.
Praise to Krom if the Vanquisher Cannon actually turns out well!

As for the Oppressor on one-shotting a Knight, I'll do a quick dice test since averages only tell you so much. For this test I'll use the stats for a baseline Knight Warden (T8, 24W 3/5 save)
BS3+ due to the leaked rules I saw saying that turret weapons get a better BS than the normal Guard 4+. 1st volley 6 shots 4 hits 2 wounds And the knight got both 5+ rolls
2nd volley 8 shots 6 hits 2 wounds Knight takes two wounds (8 damage) ....Apparently my dice don't like the Guard.
End result, I'd say that this gun would need to get pretty lucky (need six shot/hits/wounds getting through) to drop a full scale knight in one shot. Armigers would be a lot easier to kill since they only have 12 wounds.

Sentinel stats looks nice. Especially the damage 2 chainsword.
Scout sentinels will probably be popular as screening units or forward objective grabbers, through with my quirky playstyle I would probably prefer the armoured ones even through they are more points.

17 wounds eh. Just under obscuring. Thats a tough tank. I do like the double barrel . I also notice that it says leman russ battle cannoni wonder if the dorn will have a different stat for their double barrel aside from twice as many shots

And knight players of both flavours weep. Tanks with less wounds (granting obscured!) getting T9 and a 2+, and the pentultimate stompy giant machnies are still T8 w/ 3+.
Womp, womp, woooooooooomp...
I'm happy for the guard, it's cool to see some new units; and changes to make their superheavies more survivable because of a lack of invul saves, and a slightly worse BS to begin with.

I honestly do not understand why knights aren't T9 with a 2+ save
never has made sense to me.
I'm happy that guard players are getting cool new sculpts though. The stuff in the new army box looks really nice, as does the Dorn Tank!

I think it’s new. Someone at GW decided “yeah we can start to make units T9.
Or
Knights are old. In their hay day they were T10 with void shields but now they are only T8….
I think we will see more units that are T9 in the future.

I feel like units that need the "shiny new" T9 are...
Mortarion Magnus Imperial/Chaos Knights Wraithknight (all flavours)

I feel like units that need the "shiny new" T9 are... Mortarion Magnus Imperial/Chaos Knights Wraithknight (all flavours) As much as I hate Magnus and mortarion(I've killed Magnus once in my 60 or so games against him) but I definitely agree with this. The daemon primarchs (as much as I hate saying this) need to be a bit more scary
