Depending on point spread, and the ability to squadron the Dorn; leafblower lists might be making a comeback I feel. Massed tanks, and the ability to drop large blobs of disposable bodies would make for an uphill churn to dig Guard out from on their objectives.

I feel like units that need the "shiny new" T9 are... Mortarion Magnus Imperial/Chaos Knights Wraithknight (all flavours) As much as I hate Magnus and mortarion(I've killed Magnus once in my 60 or so games against him) but I definitely agree with this. The daemon primarchs (as much as I hate saying this) need to be a bit more scary I agree. Everything needs to be nerfed to prevent power creep and actually have big things scary again. Or introduce D8's or D12's

If the leaked rules are correct we can put together multiple command squads with voxes and ordnance masters, and take the Bombardiers doctrine. It will allow manticores (and any other artillery pieces we care to take) to hit on 3s rerolling 1s, which can get pretty strong since its now dam3 instead of damD3 This can also potentially be augmented by special character auras and/or strategems

TLDR it seems that the Guard have gotten a new lease on life.

Yeah it looks good, but seems positive that it's not too Overpowered. Although they are in a weird spot until the next datalsate comes out and the codex actually gets released.

Yeah there is a bit of oddness going on as Auspex Tactics mentioned. Specifically whether the Guard would keep thier vehicle-based Armor of Contempt that they previously got or if it would be going away.
One funny thing is that AT ran the numbers and there is apparently no reason for you to take the double battle cannons options for the Dorn tank.

I am just happy to maybe have a functional 9th Ed Codex again! For a few months anyway.

Though I admit I'm more interested in this release than with Psyhic Awakening. Because from the description, it's a self-contained game mode (all in the AoO book) that's somewhere between kill team and mainline 40k using ~500 point armies fighting through a Space Hulk.

They fooled me once with Psychic Awakening. Never again...

-Shrugs- We'll see. I mean, it's not like it could be worse than PA. ..... Sorry, it could be worse but they'd have to actively work at it.

The question will be if the FAQ will do anything about that little 'combo' that people found.

The question will be if the FAQ will do anything about that little 'combo' that people found. I am trusting it will. if it won't, well then for clubs I'll be forced to. (likely cap at 6 mortals per unit rather than per unit targetted to stop that splitfire kill three units nonsense out of a 100 point unit!)

Are you going to rule thar for every ability that does capped mortals? Because they all work that way. Psalm of Remorseless Persecution, Mandiblasters, etc etc all cap at 6 MW per unit receiving per phase.
