Hey there,
It might just be me being encouraged by the high tournout at the last few 40k tournies, but I'm tossing around an idea in my brain and seeing what others think about it...
The big tournies out there seem to be 2 day affairs, and able to accomodate more players and due to having more games there is a bigger span of points - therefore one bad game doesn't knock you out of the running... and at the same time there are enough games that we can have the top brackets make more sense...
So, how about a poll on an idea...
This would be a two day, Kingston Warhammer 40K championship tourney. Tropies.... maybe even t-shirts if I can get a good deal on them... prizes more of draw prizes (like they do at Astro) so independent of wins... you win alot you get a trophy, you get lucky in the draw - prize...
So I'm trying to add a bunch of options here to the poll, but in my sleep deprived state I may miss a few great ideas... feel free to post in this thread alternate ideas, things you like, things you don't like... and of course if you would attend such an event!

I'd attend, but to find two free days can be hard, lots of heads up would be nice.

I'd love too but getting a ride to kingtson (downtown also) for two days in a row is nigh impossible... depending on bus schedule/start/end times I might be able to stay at my nana's apartment

that would be a cool idea, that would be lots of games, and the more 40k the better. some crazy/awesome senarios would be neat. I also have no illusions of winning well unless i do purifier spam lol and even then lol

if there's enough interest and I do run something like this (would be in the new year... this time of year is just too crazy busy!) I'd be looking at alot of scenarios from Astro and other types of tournies like that... also I've seen some very interesting ways of scoring things.... one format I was looking at today was three things, all equally weighted - so KP, capture and control and seize ground.... needing two to equal a win... so let's say you get the most KP, and you win seize ground while your opponent grabs the alternative objectives... you'd win.. any combination therefore could work (that way if you play MSU you aren't necessarily wasted automatically by KP, and if you're deffwing, you aren't automatically wasted by seize ground) just a preliminary thought... if this becomes a go, all scenarios and scoring would be figured out way ahead of time...

i think its a great idea shannon. the howl thing with the prizes all being door prizes is realy great, now maybe ill have a chance to win... i mean ;D lol . but seriosly it sounds like a great idea all around and for kill points maybe victory points could be used instead. i know randy & tom would like that ;D.

I had an other idea... I dont know if people will like that but how about we bring a fluff army approuve by peers before tournament... So that way nobody end up playing purifier spam.... By Fluff army I mean lets say you play BA well you bring Jump Pack troops and you vary your choice not a razorback spam...

army comp would be something that we could talk about before hand... maybe peer reviewed lists? or maybe a group of volunteers would agree to work on rating lists... that way if it's done as a group, it's more impartial...
that would mean signups ahead of time... and list submitted in advance of course... but most big tournies do that anyways....

Something like that would probably coax me into playing 40k....and I could probably crash someone on my couch/spare room if need be. That said, I'd need lots of notice to be able to go.

Have to agree with Matt that notice for something this big would be required for me as well so that I can make sure I am free for it
