In my efforts to improve upon things for next year I'm looking for some feedback to make things even better...
(must have went somewhat okay this year because at the end of last year I said 'never again' now I'm actually looking forward to doing it again!)
So please let me know:
1. what things did you like about the tourney? 2. what things didn't you like about the tourney? 3. favourite scenarios that you played? 4. scenarios you played that you didn't like at all? 5. thoughts on the swag? 6. thoughts on the prize pool? 7. suggestions for next year?

1. It was great. tonnes of great scenarios. Lots of great players and fun players. No one was a sore loser or winner that i saw. Good clean fun. The scenarios were great, did make the games different. There were games that i know i would have won if they were the normal mission.
2. The only thing i could say i didn't like is that I got was some repeat mission from last year and some of the ones i wanted i didnt get. But nothing you can do about that really with all those people and it being random. Thats going to happen and that was only a mild thing cause even playing the ones again they were fun.
3. I really liked Xeno tech raid. It was really fun, the change to difficult terrain for jump infantry, i think my blood angels would have done better in it this year also.
4. I can't say there was a mission i didnt like, the only one that I thought was broken i re read and found we did it wroung so it was my fault.
5. The swag was awesome, i liked the dog tags they are pretty cool.
6. The prizes were great. Thanks To Mike and Ali for all the great prizes, I totally love my Only war book i won(my second favorite prize out of the prize pool)
7. Ummm that i win? lol not much that i can think of i think it went smoothly and was a lot of fun.
Thanks again shannon it was great and i will be going again next year. The Greater good willing lol

1. I liked the fact that when you win you were playing a winner so I get to play hard people and its challenging. Make it very exciting for the final. Of course I like the weird scenario aswell.
2. Nothing in particular. Maybe working on terrain during the year because some table had very little I know I played grot mart and Guy was just freaking out because they was absolutly no terrain.
3. Zombies was very hard I had to rush in the middle in fight to death.
4. Grot mart I played it last year to and I dont really like it. I know you really like it Shannon but I played it 2 years with 2 different army and still think its boring.
5. Very cool.
6. Since we had huge prize like that I would like next year to have some prize for Best General and Best Overall like a 50$ to Nexus and maybe just a 100$ certificat for door prize instead of 200$ to compensate for example.
7. To Keep it running over and over. Even when I will get posted out of Kingston I think I will still come if Im not to far. Thanks Again for that awesome tournament

1. also liked the fact that it didnt use the seeding system in most tourneys where its first place vs last place, making games challenging for the players higher up and making lower players on the rung still have a chance to catch up 2. nothing in particular... except for the terrain part danny mentioned 3. out of the ones I played, favourite's probably temple of doom, makes you choose between searching or attacking 4. unstable reactor, it's just a bit too close to an actrual book mission of objectives. 5. excellent swag, durable and representing of warhammer 6. prizes are great. we have a reasonable number while maintaining the quality.. so.. yeah 7. a whole week for next year!(just kidding), but nothing really, great tourney, thanks shannon

....I'm extremely unlikely to attach prize support to any of the top spots beyond the recognition and trophy. Mike would have to pretty much insist on it and I'd try talking him out of it.
.....terrain was a change from last year somewhat. I went with the 25% coverage rule except where I was trying to create a unique / weird situation. for some reason, some people were doing strange things like shooting through intact buildings that were completely blocking line of site (ie: nearly ALL the terrain on Grot Mart)... but I attempted to correct that whenever I saw it.

ok I just tough having a prize attach for Best Overall would have probably force more people to paint army because once again even if you gave 1 year notice most of the army were not fully painted and barely 3 colors. On that note what do you think about giving 1 year notice for fully painted this time... If we want GW to MAYBE regonize the event we need to have fully painted army dont we?

Trophy is awesome enough for winning in a selected field, prize support should be separate.

yes trophee are cool but lets be honest I wont do a wall of fame with my trophee and my certificat my gf will look at me very weird so it end up in my closet. Where is yours Tom on your wall at home? He asked for our opinion Im giving mine I would rather have real price with the trophee for best overall and general hes the organizer he said no thats fine I will still enjoy the tournament and come every year Im just giving my opinion....
I just know some very competitive guy from outside the region that were like why bother coming and spending money on gas, hotel etc... and if we win we just have a trophee. Dont forget that a lot of city are organizing big tournament.
I know our gaming community is more about friendly play but its not the same everywhere. Most people go to tourment for price. Im just trying to bring an other point of view here thats it because I dont really care if its stay the same. It will just be cool to see some new face

1. what things did you like about the tourney? I liked that everyone was generally pretty chill about how things were going. Didn't see people getting heated or nasty even when games were going really badly. I think trying to keep that dynamic of healthy, friendly competition is pretty key to a local-focused event like this. I know there are thoughts of bringing more people in from out of town, but I really don't want "That Guy" to start showing up in hopes of grabbing prizes.
2. what things didn't you like about the tourney? Not really much. I can see the issue with a bit of a lack of terrain..even the buildings/ruins that were there were fairly sparse. I have a reasonably extensive terrain collection I can bring next year, 2 full sector boxes plus extras. I think you just have to accept that sometimes you're going to get a match that is the wrong army on the wrong table and there isn't much you can do about it.
3. favourite scenarios that you played? I loved Endgame. Harry and I ended up basically tabling each other, which is always great. I also enjoyed Daemon World, as it threw in just enough randomness and encouraged you to get bloody. Temple of Doom was cool, but I could see where it could rub people the wrong way if (like last year) someone lost the tourney based on an extremely random mission.
4. scenarios you played that you didn't like at all? I really didn't like Power Struggle, and it had nothing to do with getting pummled in that mission. It seemed like it just had the most chance to really screw one army completely over. I know I heard from other people that they had similar experiences. In my opinion Attacker/Defender missions are best left out of tournaments unless they are specifically being set up that way to have Attack and Defense lists. Sink the Baneblade was also a bit of a letdown....the big guy just didn't really do anything. Zombie Apocalypse was generally pretty great, but I feel like it needed a different win condition. Mike and I hit turn 3 and realized that there basically wasn't time for either of us to win....it just isn't possible for a lot of armies to hold an objective that long that quickly.
5. thoughts on the swag?\ I liked the Dice Bag and dog tags.....wasn't thrilled with just random dice tossed in. I know I'm probably pickier than most about my dice, but given that they didn't have anything special to them they seemed kinda unnecessary to me. Plus I couldn't see the pips on mine!
6. thoughts on the prize pool? Pretty solid. I'd be down for having 2 hundred dollar GC's instead of one $200 one just to spread it out more.
7. suggestions for next year? Temporary liquor license =P And what about increased cost and provided pizza or something for lunch....speed it up if everyone isn't dispersing into the town. Just an idea.

I know I will be the only one defending the point of trying to get people from outside but Matt Im going to Quebec in March and Im going mostly because there is huge prize and I want to see how I can do from outside Kingston. Its not because you are competitive that you are a jerk or that guy... I will spend 200$ to go there so I want to have something at the end if I win other then that I will just stay here and do all the tournament here instead that are great and I enjoy...
Shannon is the organizer so if he wants to keep that locally thats fine I dont care but Im just saying if we want a real different tournament with people from like Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal we should consider having prize for Best Overall and General if we want to keep that locally I will still enjoy it.

re trophies - the biggest tournament in Ontario doesn't give anything other than trophies for placing. They fill up every year with 64 players. Someone choosing to not attend a two day tourney because of the best overall prize? that's pretty dumb, sorry... a little egotistical for them to assume they're going to win that prize. they have a FAR bigger chance to come home with a prize worth MORE than a $50 gift card... so if they're attending for prizes, that logic doesn't make any sense... they're much more likely to win a prize under this system.... and if they're super competitive and only come to a tourney to win the biggest prize by winning best overall, I'm likely not going to care if they stay home to be honest.... I'd rather the other thirty people have fun rather than one WAAC gamer....
having a prize beyond a trophy for best overall wouldn't encourage people to put more paint on their models. not being allowed in the tourney barely made people do three colours.
re the $200 gift certificate - it was only supposed to be $100. Mike was super generous at the last minute.
lunch - given the amount of trash left on tables (I was cleaning up empty cans etc. throughout the tourney) I'm certain ordering in lunch would only make that worse.
dice - again were given as an additional swag... there was actually another option ordered but didn't come in... custom dice we got screwed over by chessex.
zombie apocalypse - ended in a tie twice out of six games... so most of the people managed to pull out a win who played it.
power struggle - one of the unforseen changes in 6th made that mission unbalanced, no one caught it on the preview of the missions (wasn't mentioned for changing) but after seeing the mission in play I agree it needs to be changed. first turn charges used to be not possible with that deployment... now they are... so yeah, that's gotta get changed. And probably with it the last attacker / defender mission (I kept one just for variety but whatever)... unfortunately Matt that would have meant that the dark eldar player you faced would have had his entire army to bring to bear on your bikes first turn....so I'm not sure how that would have improved the situation...
terrain's been mentioned a couple of times... wish someone would have told me during the hour before game one on day one that they thought terrain was sparse... I would have added more... had lots of time to do so.... or at any point during the tourney for that matter... we had lot of terrain sitting on the shelves we could have used for that purpose... can't fix an issue if no one mentions it.
Sink the Baneblade will probably go next year, or I'll change it up... second year in a row it really didn't do anything... Also squigs will get changed so Grot Mart isn't as "boring".

Winner here talking lol
1. i enjoyed the hole thing. it was not easy for me. some of my opp the mission and dice rolls were on my side i seem to have lucked out on that there. was some good armys this year and i liked that there was more painted they looked pretty and danny was the one who did the most dammage to my army
2. i dont like rays army he made me draw
3. i like most of them and some this year well have to change beacuse of me again
4.i didnt like zombie one only cause you have to have 4 or more to win im finding harder and harder to get past turn 4 in any game maybe giving more time or lowering the points need it an easy fix
5. winning stuff befor playing is awsome
6. tropys that are warhammer based would be better but would be very hard to get may be a gold plated space marine
7. necrons are band for me next year. going to think what im going to play for nexts year. thinking of playing orks for fun i want people to fear grots i think i can do it i cant wait to see what people are going to do to there armys for next year painting and conversion and having a desplay board can make a differance

Shannon for terrain was not a major issue for me I deal with what I have just reporting what I heard. I also heard people saying they wish they would have seen more painted army and more new face. Im one of them wishing to see more new face but its not a big deal.
As per the guys that I know they are great person with fully painted army that are going all over the state/quebec for tournament so Im just telling you what they told me. You have better chance to win a prize if you are cofident in your army then a draw...Anyways I wont add more on that point.

2. i dont like rays army he made me draw Lmao you win the thread, sir. 1. I liked that it was pushed more in the direction of fully painted, and I loved the atmosphere of the tournament in general- very little whining and people getting upset over a dice game. 2. Ray's Army... No I'm kidding. Nothing too terrible to report on my end. 3. Ambulls and End Game were my favorites. 4. I actually enjoyed the scenarios this year though I didn't play the defender / attacker one. 5. Swag was sweet though I agree on the dice, maybe trying a little further ahead of time could help? Hell I'd put in for the initial costs and eat a hit on it if we needed more to put in for the monetary side of it. 6. Good stuff. Chain sword for best overall trophy next year! And I agree with Matt at two $100 GC then one to spread it out. 7. Overall there's nothing I'd really like to see changed, great job!
