How's the fluff in the Campaign book? I've heard from a few places that it reads worse than Matt Ward Ultramarines in terms of effectively being a Tau fan-fic where they just comically destroy a couple First Founding Chapters. I don't *want* to believe that, but it definitely seems to be the direction GW is going with the Tau being OMG UNBEATABLE in the fluff. Having read it, it's actually pretty neat. Basically just the Tau stalemating/outmanevuering an overstretched Imperial Force(like the first Gulf Crusade). SPOILERS FOLLOWThe only 'bullshit' moment i saw was the killing of the raven guard chapter master. It read to me at least as just 'BUY THE GHOSTKEEL' because Shadowsun uses the Ghostkeel and a body double to juke the Chapter master, and just blows him in half with a fusion collider. But it's ok, because they make Shrike the new Chapter Master, and Shrike is the man.

Does that mean he gets an extra wound and attack? =P No, but in one mission he does get the orbital bombard.
Excuse the guest account, I'm at school.

www.belloflostsouls.net/2015/11/40k-montka-formations-spotted.htmlI read the last formation that give you 3 riptides in a formation that lets you re-roll nova charge while they are within 6" of each other. Plus gives you the turn 1 alpha strike that is 6x S8 AP2 large blasts AND 48 S5 AP5 shots when you ripple fire the smart missiles. The riptide just went from the best unit in the codex to an ungodly Abomination that feeds on the tears of the enemies as it makes them pick up half an army. Move over Eldar, I think tau have now moved into the position of most cheese.

18 str 8 ap 2 large blasts at bs 4 or 5. Cause of fire team and maybe firing at the same target. With a 3++ save since you can reroll those nova rolls.
Now my question is does each model in the unit, have to roll for their reactor separately?

yes to the best of my reading they all roll separately since they are still a model with the rule not a unit with the rule. I just throw up an army list for the new Riptide Wing at 2000 pts in army lists, it's really funny.

Yah, not 100% sure why the riptide needed a boost. I don't think my one has ever died....

Eh, lol.
I don't think it's all that good. You can get in 2 extra units without rolls for them, but I removed all reserve modifiers from my list as it's typically a non issue. As for the second bit, I don't see it being that useful until turn 5 or 6/7. Typically when you scatter from grav chute insertion it's not the worst thing ever and you roll all your dangerous terrain checks and then armour saves if applicable. I scatter my squads all the time and it's typically a non-issue.
