Need to finish the highlighting along some bits of detail work/corrections but I really like how this boy is coming together. FrontSide

It looks really good the bronze really lends itself will with the metal and green bits.

It looks really good the bronze really lends itself will with the metal and green bits. Yep, I've found Rhulic Gold to be a very versatile paint. It and Pig Iron have been my go-to colors for my entire army. Though for the larger vehicles I'm probably going to be doing a lot more black outside of the cockpit and weapon mounts. Though I found one real time-saver of a trick for dealing with the 'rune groves' that appear on Necron models. If you're doing a light or metallic background just fill the groves with plenty of nuln oil. Gives the same effect with a 10th of the work and time of going in with a fine detail brush and black paint.

Painting the Wraiths was an interesting dichotomy. On one hand there is space and potential features for all sorts of little paint tricks but on the other they are ultimately nothing more then expendable machines to the Necrons. Ergo they wouldn't have all the bling and importance placed on them as one might see in Imperium vehicles or walkers. imgur.com/a/itL7CThough I've found the suggested P3 QuickSilver to be a very nice layer paint. Pictures don't have the best light for it but the stuff makes a surface much more eye-catching compared to the duller Pig Iron.

Admittedly not much got painted this month after the Deathmarks but I'm trying something a little different for adding to my army. Namely kitbashing something akin to old-school style wraiths. While I have stuff for the torso, head, arms etc, the tail of course is a little harder to make with leftover bitz. Sure whip coils can suffice but I think everyone here agrees that the things are very flimsy. So I'm trying out a bundle of stick principle: take two and glue the things together while using liquid green stuff on the gaps. Tail 1.0Just have to see how the green stuff is when dried. Speaking of, how runny is liquid greenstuff normally? Because I've seen descriptions of it being like toothpaste but mine seems to be at the point I could scoop a glob out on a toothpick.

liquid greenstuff is pretty runny Then either my batch was bad from the start or dried out a fair bit before I opened it. Oh well, it is water based so I'll add some to the pot (or the chunks I pull out) and see if that mitigates the problem.

Nice thing about having my vehicles only partially assembled means I can focus on separate smaller sections one at a time. imgur.com/2emmMjTDove back into edge-highlighting by using the cannon's muzzle as a test and moot green on pure black seems to work quite well. Now for the long haul: getting all the 'ribs' on the Ark painted the same way.

This Doomsday Ark had many firsts. Large vehicle painting, mass edge highlighting, messing around with painting gradients and so on. imgur.com/a/FIgKLThink I'm just going to mindlessly assembly-line paint some infantry for a while to wind down.

And all is ready. Just need to collect my six models from the Golden Brush case tomorrow. (I apologize for the glare, my phone camera isn't the best) The first scouting force of the dynasty is complete and ventures out to see first-hand what the madness and depravity of the Aeldari along with the ignorance of the younger races has done to the galaxy that is the Necrons by right. Depending on the results of the expedition the Overlord may be willing to accelerate the activation of more advanced wargear to deal with the interlopers that infest the dyansty's worlds.

To the more experienced painters here, any ideas on how to create a green tint/sheen on a black surface? I tried a layer of waywatcher green over black but nothing really happened and it simply dried a bit patchy.
Before I go and add more layers of WW green (potentialy in vain) I was hoping that somebody has a better idea.

I would mix black into the way watcher green until it is almost black. Then edge highlight with way watcher.
