OK, so incorporating what I have, I planned out a...... innovative..... list to use in the tourney. in which the main tech is something which rarely seen use.
HQ hive tyrant with bonesword/lashwhip and heavy venom cannon hive commander paroxysm and leech essense adrenal glands?
elite 10 ymgarl genestealers
2 hive guards
troop 10 hormagaunts with adrenal glands and toxin sacs
20 termagaunts with devourers with a tervigon the tervigon have: scything talons adrenal glands toxin sacs catalyst *these gaunts and tervigon are outflanking*
6 genestealers and a broodlord scything talons? adrenal glands toxin sacs broodlord with scything talons
fast attack: 6 spore mines orbitally deployed 5 spore mines orbitally deployed 5 spore mines orbitally deployed
heavy support trygon prime adrenal glands
tyrannofex rupture cannon cluster spine

Working with what you've got, why not just make all your genestealers Ymgarls and break them into 2 units of 8? The small troop one will get shot up too easily.
Break the Devilgaunts (Gaunts with Devourers) down into 2 units of 10, and keep them back behind your spawned guants and hormagants.
Don't plan to outflank your tervigon/guants, some scenarios it will not be allowed, you want to put them in the middle of the board anyways, and put your ymgarls on the flanks to force them to bunch up and push into the midfield, where your MCs can charge them!
I would maybe look at other weapons for the tyrant too, the heavy venom cannon isn't that great.
If your working with what you have, you may want to post what you have in your collection.

I would drop adrenal glands on the tyrant and at least scything talons dropped off the tervigon... use the points (plus any further points you can drop ie: either mines, other upgrades, or the prime upgrade for the trygon) for more hormagants... ten will not survive very long... at least 15 if you're spending the points for both upgrades as you want them to hit combat.
also hive commander only allows ONE of your troops to outflank.. tervigons are not an upgrade or sergeant for the termagants... they are separate units... therefore you could only have either the tervigon OR the termagants outflank
I'd say keep the devourer gaunts in the group of 20... 10 gants are easy to take out... 20 not as much... plus it's easier to keep one group closer to your tervigon for the buffs...
you could do as Ray suggested and run two groups of ymgarls, but that means you lose out on the psychic buffs of the broodlord, which some people really like... basically it's whether or not you want the broodlord in your list... 6 + broodlord should be okay so long as you keep cover and play sneaky with them... ymgarls are good though, and you're not using your third elite slot so this could be a good choice as well.... up to you!

alright, in that case... yeah, I'll look into going above 20 in hormagaunts. the problem is that I dont have a lot of termagaunts I can spawn. my plan was to outflank with 20 devourer termagaunts so I can score 60 shots the turn they come in.

I will definitely cut down on the mines

You could still outflank 20 scoring devourer gants... if they fail their synapse roll you lurk, which means hide and shoot... which they should be doing anyways!
if you're running a tervigon you'll need to pick up more gaunts though....

Yeah, I generally go with 20 termagants needed for every tervigon you want to run... luckily they die quick and you can always re-use the dead ones

oh well... I guess I can live with a few less termagaunts...

Well, Mr. Math says that the average roll of 3D6 is 10, so if you had ~15 spares, you might be able to get away with it.
You could also ask some of the other Tyranid players locally very nicely to borrow some models for the tournament. I know there's a few people with Nids sitting on the shelf atm.

harryfang - I'm confused. I told you last week I was willing to lend you some models. You said you needed 2 trygons and a tyrant guard and I said that I could lend you those, and I brought them on Sat. You didn't show and and indicated on the forum that you were unable to make it Sat, which happens. But unless I missed a post somewhere, I haven't heard a thing from you about whether you still want to borrow the stuff (or anything else). I see in your list above there is no tyrant guard and only one trygon. If you don't need or want to borrow any of my stuff that is fine. But don't ask, make arrangements for me to bring stuff, not show and say nothing. Do you still want to borrow anything?

ok, sorry about that. I only realized last minute last week that I couldn't come. I was trying to try something out last week, but now this is more realistic, so I'm sticking with it. sorry again.
