They Changed the BS of the Monilith to +3 for the first rank. This is new. It was +4. Hopefully the price goes down from 381 The Dimensional Corridor is super handy Actually they FAQed the Monolith to natural BS 3+ a while back. And yeah the DC can be lethal considering the only limit is 1" away from enemy models instead of the 9" that the Viel of Darkness has. If the enemy doesn't manage to completely kill that deep striking monolith you can dump a full squad of Flayed ones or Warscythe Lychguard right in their faces after buffing them via your Overlord (hitting on 2s) since MWBD occurs at the start of your turn. It would be even worse if you're using Nemesor and get the 1 on the Madness D3 (+1 attack) and buff them. That would be either 30 2+ warscythe attacks or up to 100 S4 AP- reroll wounds (Flayed ones naturaly have 4 attacks+groups of 20 and N would give them an extra attack). Or heck, simply move that out of position Warrior/Immortal blob to rapid fire range to take advantage of the Mephrit trait.

yep the stratagems for the monolith are the answer to my "Why GW" question last page... ...that's why... it has a different role now, and given how difficult it is to take one out quickly, it can re-position things in your army for you pretty reliably. Whether it's to get mephrit rapid fire (which will be done a LOT with immortals I'm guessing) or to get a melee unit like Lychguard into a better position after they've cleared their zones. I'm considering a giant yellow monolith. Just considering mind you... but still. EDIT: and in my inbox this morning I got the link for all the codex leaks (updated daily) at blood of kittens... including scans: bloodofkittens.com/blog/2018/03/11/necron-8th-edition-codex-leak-compilation/

4 out of 7 special characters from Sautekh, one from Nihilakh and four generic (edit - forgot about the C'tan moving to HQ)
**slow clap**
you had 5 dynasties... could have split them up (obviously Obryon and Nemessor from the same one - you still had enough) based on fluff.
in the end it won't matter to my lists at all (I don't run the special characters) but man, talk about lazy....
My lists will only improve by this codex. There's some good stuff in there.
...lol... well specifically for my lists there's good stuff... I'm saving 13 points per destroyer, 10 per cryptek, 18 per heavy destroyer, 10 for the ghost ark, 10 per tomb blade, 24 off a d-lord, 20 off nightbringer... who's now a special character HQ?(transcendent is better I think due to the option of 3++ Gauss cannon up to S6
nice changes... for me...lol
wraiths going up in points makes some sense given they've got an additional -1 to wound and 2 damage... I mean, at least I have the points now to consider them right?

Tau had the same problem. 4 for T'au sept 1 for Vior'La (Aun'shi) 1 for Farsight (one guess) And I guess two for Dal'yth (the worst sept) if you include Forgeworld (R'myr and R'alai)
the no generic thing hurts though, especially Longstrike, as he would be pretty cool with a Se'Cea hammerhead crew (re-roll one shot per unit)
I'm looking forward to delving more into the codex leaks for Necrons though.

I know basically nothing about Necrons, but I did spot that regular Lords gives re-roll 1s to wound. Something nothing else seems to have. Looks like they are telling you what to include with all your spare points you just got.

Well that's annoying. A bit more reading and apparently the Cryptek can either be an infantry buffer with the Chronometron or take the Canoptek cloak which give Fly+10" movement and one living metal unit gets 1d3 wounds back at the start of the turn. So the cloak-tek babies the T.Blades (they can get personal 5+ invuls) or vehicles while the Chrono is footslogging with the infantry.
Lords are indeed now reroll wound rolls of 1 for infantry within 6" instead of morale. Only 'advantage' of the D.Lord now is that he moves faster and has an invul. I know somebody who's getting relegated to the back drawer from now on.
On the other hand, D.Arks now shoot 1d6 attacks and the low power beam has a 36" range.
Regular destroyers got a buff in the weaponry department. The standard gauss cannons are now Heavy 3 S6 AP-3 d3 damage. Considering they can run around in groups of 6, that is a good amount of high-strength dakka.
Though something is confusing me. They're showing Necron warlord traits like the one we got in Chapter Approved (Enduring Will. Immortal Pride etc) but the next image they have a bunch of Dynasty-warlord traits (second and third image from the bottom). Is it we have to pick from one set or the dynasty traits; or is it we pick one from the first set and get one based on the dynasty we choose?
Because I'm really torn between Immortal Pride (auto-pass morale within 6" of warlord+Warlord can deny one power as a psyker) or the Sautekh's regain CP on a 5+.

Looks like they are telling you what to include with all your spare points you just got. yep, makes the Destroyer lord completely obsolete for my lists... because that was the benefit he gave... thanks for saving me 40 points GW! I'll take this guy instead to chill out behind my lines. (makes up for the destroyers losing the preferred enemy on the wound roll) so that's exactly what I'll be using the points I saved on my destroyers for... making them the same cost basically, but giving them reroll 1's to wound now! with character protection (and the sadness of warscythes) there's no way I'm sending a D-lord out to fight anything! buffbot lord it is! sucks the new flying cryptek loses chromatron... given that is exactly what I'd want him to do! (praetorian / tomb blade support - not that a 3 point price break is going to make praetorians that much more attractive...sigh... such hard models for me to paint in my scheme... shelf for another codex boys!)

You can choose 1 of either the neutral/global traits, or the one Dynasty specific trait of your warlord. Named Characters usually MUST take the warlord trait of their specific faction (or dynasty in this case). So Imotekh for example must take Hyperlogical Strategist. Sometimes there's a table that says which character gets what trait, and there doesn't seem to be that in the leak however. So this is purely an assumption based on the contents of the leak.

Initial take a ways, There are some powerful Stratgems in that army. But they have no way to get CP back. So you have to be wise on how your going to use them.
Also. The Nanoscarab Casket [Relic] is broken.
Will do more indepth analysis later tonight. overall, thinking of making a Close Combat Necron List. NOVOKH. Should be fun.

HOLD THE PHONE!
Kirby just edited the article saying this is a beta-codex, and is NOT final. There may be further changes. So, just make sure you take this with salt (as all rumors). Don't go buying a dozen models based on it.

A beta codex? Seems strange since i thought it was coming out soon.
I do like the tomb blades, two telsa carbines each. Squad of 9 getting 4 shots each. So 36 shots with the potential of getting more with my will be done. I feel though that's still crazy expensive at 32 pts a model. Can get them even more expensive with more upgrades. Still nothing stands out as amazing though but i havent looked into the index so i dont know all the rules changes.

"beta" codex means that Kirby doesn't have to worry about GW lawyers maybe?
