on the crytek entry it says Chronometron OR Cloak... so looks like either or both would have been a no brainer choice I'll have to dig through the comments and double check the rules in the Forgebane box tomorrow then. Because I find it hard to think that they would make that big a goof when they did the batrep with the main purpose of showing off the new stuff in the codex.

Thanks. -digs through video- OK confirmed, it's cloak or chronometron. Not surprising but it would have been nice.
And wraiths are 55 points and have the -2AP and 2D per hit claws. Well I know what I'm going to be blitzing Hellblaster squads with.

Batreps are notorious for mistakes unfortunately...

Though the difference in the codex point values is nuts when I look at it now. I'm printing out the Mephrit test list since most of the stats etc are the same.
With the beta codex this list is 2000 points on the dot.
With the index it would have been 2123.

Important things to remember with batreps done by GW.
They are usually done months in advance during playtesting (especially the WD ones to meet publishing deadlines), then posted at a later date. This is even true of some of the streamed games, where the community team grabs the book they were given to use a while back (being an early version) and uses that without thinking it has been updated to a final version. Generally a case of development and community management being separate branches within the company. This happens throughout the gaming industry.

Cool thing I noticed going through the beta rules. C’tan Shards don’t get dynasty rules, but the obelisk and teseract vault(TV) do. I only really see running them as Mephrit dynasty getting 20 Tesla shots at -1 ap at half range sounds awesome. I also noticed that range to a TV is to base. So it might be easier to just build it like a transcendent c’tan on the center pylon over a flyers base. Ignoring the giant clumsy walls.

Sure but don't you have to take the things as part of a super-heavy detachment in order to get the dynasty rules?
Assuming you go 2 Obelisk/1 Vault (cheapest form with the vault) that's over 1300 points and closer to 1500 if it's 3 vaults. Not a lot left for regular troops if you're playing a 2000 point game.

You could take it as a Supreme HQ Detachemnt Take 2 crypteks with a cloak to provide Living metal enhancemnts and one with a Chromatron for the 5+ save from snipers.
496 + 95 + 95 + 85 = 771
Still probably isnt worth it. But. If the rest of your army is of the same Dynasty you could make it work quite fine.

True. If you're all the Dynasty you can simply mix and match HQs. Brigade+S.HQ is minimum five HQs, three of which would be the Overlord+Lord+Crytek set you use for the infantry blob. The others would be the Clock-tek and a spare of whatever you want.

not sure mixing dynasties is the way to go... the flexibility of imperial and chaos soup doesn't tend to work too great on the xenos dexes due to the reliance on certain buff abilities (tau drones, synapse for nids, crypteks for necrons, etc.) that you want overlapping your army.
I think there'll be a build at the end of the day for each dynasty, but it seems like the clutch model which is just way too effective to ignore, is the humble cryptek. He just adds SO much to a force (reanimation buffs, chromotron, veil holder, etc.) that I'm thinking he's one of the MUST have's for a competitive force. From what I've seen for the most part (poor praetorians...sigh) all the units are pretty darn usable given the correct list, and nothing screams over the top OP or anything... which is good... I'd rather a balanced good dex with lots of options than the one list syndrome of many of the 5th-7th edition books.

You can also just take the vault it self as a super-heavy-auxiliary deatchment and pick literally whatever dynasty rules for it with no HQ tax... So it could be totally different from the rest of your army as long as you are ok with no buffing (which tbh isn't great, but it's the trade off)

Well have to wait until the den comes out to see if it’s the same for necrons
